Started off the game with such a poor selection we were rightfully down 2 goals and lucky it wasn’t more. Changes were made which helped change the tide of things but we ended on the note we started on, poor selection! Obvious to everyone we should have kept attacking as the defenders were just not at it yesterday, we could have gotten another goal. Could have gone the other way but based on what I saw defensively I’d rather we drew by continuously attacking. Sheffield United were on the ropes Not everyone.

at first when i saw tuanzebe getting ready, i thought thats a good sub as thats what i wanted to see. we looked horrible in the middle of the park and needed an extra body in there to cope with it. however i wanted ole to bring in a midfielder for a striker, not revert to a back 5.

I know he's young butbthe state of that midfield what does Garner have to do to get games time?
I can understand not rushing youngsters but with the state our midfield is in its a risk worth taking. We've already thrown in Williams and he's done fantastic so far. I'd expect after that shit show yesterday to see him at the very least feature against Astana and even Villa.

Also for those people that want to doubt McTominay further then they need to watch the game yesterday. We desperately missed him in that game. Goes to show how important he is for us.

Between them Fred and Periera gave the ball away 46 times.
Grief.

Axel and Garner to both start next game. throw Gomes in as well least he can keep/pass the ball. cant be any worse then Pereira/Fred. I was such a big Pereira fan too and really wanted him to crack on but he just keeps disappointing.
that 3rd goal is totally pathetic from James, Lindelof and Maguire its a howler. sickener.

I'm really starting to worry about Lindelof. Where on earth has the player from last season gone?

watchin the highlights again. I honestly cant believe how soft them goals were that we conceded.
Phil Jones is pathetic. Maguire should have stopped both the other goals. where was his commitment to block the shots. first one he just let him shoot. no slide to get in the way or anything. its probably Maguires worst game for us

Regarding Ole's decision to take Martial off yesterday and try to protect the one-goal lead.. honestly, he was in a lose-lose situation unless he, well.. won the game.
If Ole kept Martial on and Sheffield scored to level the game, people would've said: "Pathetic game management by Ole - should've tried to defend the lead."
That being said, I think that this side doesn't have the resilience to hold on to a one-goal lead, which means that trying to defend one will typically result in disappointment. Until we add the right characters to the squad, we need to have a 2 goal lead no matter what.

I've just watched the entire game now as a re-run, and as shite as Martial was up until our 3rd goal, he should never have been subbed. He had a major hand in our 3rd goal, the team's confidence was soaring and we were absolutely battering them. The momentum hit a roadblock with that substitution, because of a decrease in bodies up front and shoved bodies at the back. They got back in the game in a matter of minutes and got their equaliser. Martial up front was somehow working with James and Rashford and it had Sheffield on the back foot completely. We could easily have got a 4th i think. That substitution was extremely poor.

It's what little teams do. And we're a little team now, but it's the same as time wasting near the end of a game or holding the ball by the corner flag.
