Four right backs shows what a coward Southgate is, bottling his biggest decision. Not that long ago teams would only take one!
He should take AWB and tell him he'll be needed at RB or RCB in a 5 when playing the top teams who will attack us. He should also take Trent, and tell him he's not starting usually but can be brought on when we're chasing a game and might also come on at CM. Then drop James and tell him he's a good player but we're blessed at RB and his time will probably come. I've seen some say he can't be dropped after the CL final performance but that's a joke, you don't select based on one game (even if he has had a good season).
Then the real tough decision is picking only one of Walker and Trippier. They're both good players that have had good seasons and would get into almost any other international squad, but they perform too similar a role here. I'd narrowly drop Walker - I think he's arguably had the best season of all five of them, but Trippier is better at crossing, and can play at left back if needed, whilst Walker can play RCB but I think AWB would suit that role if we need it and defends better. Tell Walker he's unlucky but from now on he is in direct competition with Trippier.
That really isn't that hard. Fuck it, if you really want, swap AWB for Walker, but don't take four fucking right backs. It's just so pathetic and screams of a man who will bow to whatever pressure the tabloids or anyone place on him. Whether or not you thought TAA should go, at least dropping him showed some bottle.

England boss Southgate on Rashford's fitness: "Marcus we haven't seen on the grass but I've spoken with him and he assures me he's happy with where he's at so we go from there with that one"
Above is basically the same excuse Ole gives for playing Marcus all the time. Surely as a former player he should know that a player, and especially a young player, is never going to admit to being unfit or not feeling up to playing?
Im guessing he is playing three at the back so Walker and James are intended as centre backs rather than right backs and Trippier and Trent will be competing for the right wingback position (just as Shaw and Chilwell are competing for the left wingback position).

Anyway England is not going to win it ! Rashford should have done what greenwood did , withdraw and use this time for his surgery rest and recovery.

Im with you on this, if you consider how many games he has played already, then the young player rubbish ended a few seasons back. Rashford needs to grow up and look after his body. If you keep telling the coach your fine then this coach will keep playing you. For me he should have withdrew from the squad because he isnt fit and his form is terrible. |
