Schools are germ factories at the best of times, so even if school age kids aren’t showing symptoms, they are carriers who disperse and infect the adults they come into contact with. Those who can't, teach! And those who can’t teach, criticize! |

They have closed schools in the Republic of Ireland today, I suspect us in the North won't be far behind. Listening to the chief medical officer saying that we have 500 cases in the UK but according to there models the real number carrying it could be as high as 10,000. That's a solid indicator that we are heading in the same direction as Italy. I'm one of the luck ones, I can work from home but many in my family just can't.

The job I am working on is run by an Italian company, many of them fly back and forth. One guy was in northern Italy skiing 3 weeks ago, he is back in work. Coughing and sneezing. I only found out just before I left today. Fucking prick should be self isolating, he could potentially be infecting the whole site.

The trouble is, the British attitude of, fuck it, it's only a cold, I'm going in to work, I cant be seen as soft. This is different though. I have zero interactions with him but we all use the same toilets and it is contagious through faeces and urine, so if someone doesn't wash their hands...
Also, there are probably between 125 to 150 people on site and they give us bars of soap in the toilets. Very fucking hygienic.

Bizarrely you will find that soap works...the virus has a lipid membrane, which soap destroys, killing the virus... Having said that, your colleague is recklessly endangering the rest of you. Our place is looking into everyone who can work from home having to do so, but we only have so many licences so not everyone can.
I've a fuck load of personal leave so more than happy to take a couple of weeks as sick and stay home, got Netflix and Foxtel and just need to stock up on the essentials (basically beer and chocolate) and then I'm done.

I have a massively compromised immune system, no spleen ,for which I take 500mgs of penicillin daily ,had pneumonia, and have an auto immune version of Lupus, I take between 6/7 mgs of Warfarin daily and a Statin.Apart from that I’m fine!
I’m an (English) civil service manager, working in a busy public office where staff and public intermingle all day.
So far my Dept has referred ppl like me with underlying health conditions, to “ the guidance on the intranet” which is a cut and pasted complete waste of fucking time!
If I get this Covid-19 my doc’s have already told me that I’ll be really poorly, the LAST thing I want is to be stuck in an isolation tent being fed Grey Minced Cat and Mashed potato via a fucking gauntlet!
I’m seeing my GP tomorrow and will ,most likely, get a sick note for a month.
