Funny how quickly the mood changes after 1 poor result. All of a sudden our next 2 games don’t look as easy.
Palace can be awkward for anyone and West Ham have found a bit of form and are fighting relegation.

I have absolutely no idea how he made the ninety minutes. Should have been off after 45. Ole has once again shown dreadful game management, and an inability to make subs to shore up a lead. Every time I start to think he's the man for us, he reminds me why I don't. Pretty sure there are only 3 slots to make subs. It's not a free for all, for obvious reasons. Hence we finished with 10 men. Still, nice to see the old "blame the manager, not the players" stick still survives But ... Ole's in-game management is consistently shit. Both that and the players mostly being sackless Tottenham-lites can be true at the same time.

But ... Ole's in-game management is consistently shit. Both that and the players mostly being sackless Tottenham-lites can be true at the same time. It's certainly the one key area he needs to improve on. He's still a young manager and he can learn and improve as he goes so not writing him off, but he needs to get ideas about how to change things mid game when things aren't working, other than simply trusting the 11 he picked to keep going. Southampton were the better side pretty much all game other than a short spell in the first half. Sitting back and hoping the defence doesn't fuck up and the talent up top wins us the game isn't good enough. Be proactive. Why are Southampton bossing the game? Do we need more energy in the team? An extra body in the middle of the park? Go to a back 3? Reduce width and play more central? Increase tempo? Etc, etc. Half time could/should have saw changes. I get Ole wants to trust the players he's picked, and I don't want to see over reacting just because we've had a bad 15 minutes, but identifying where things are going wrong and changing things around is one massive strength for a manager, he needs to get that.

hopefully that gives the players a kick up the arse to stop them thinking the jobs done.
they should be having a sleepless night and want to go full throttle into the last few games instead of trying to coast like tonight.

Carbon is now banned from starting match day threads. Sorry mate, it's all or nothing now and we need someone with a 100% record.

So disappointed that changes weren’t made at half time to address the saints pressing game. Do that, get a third goal and we would be third. Easier said than done but at the very least changes should have been made. Very disappointing result more especially considering the weekend results set this up for us nicely, why do we fail to capitalise on Chelsea dropping points.
Game was only good to illustrate the reality that we have plenty of work to do, mentally and in terms of a quality squad rather than the quantity we have now.

Southampton were poor at the back, anytime we put 3 or 4 passes together we created good chances, unfortunately we decided to hang on with 20 mins to go instead. Southamptons pressing was good but good central midfield players could overcome that press, it wasnt very hard because we got two goals by moving the ball out from the back. Despite Pogba and Matic playing in midfield, we had no physical presence at all, the sooner Scottie is reintroduced the better. There is still alot to do in midfield and at the back.

Totally agree with Gary Neville. Ref's have to be looking at the monitor. That tackle on Mason was shocking. The thing that passes me off is we don't have an enforcer. Someone with a bit of shithousery.

We looked tired & it exposed the lack of depth in our squad, anyone that thinks that we are a Jadon Sancho away from challenging are kidding themselves, including ole but we all know that is exactly how he will portray it when pay over the odds for Sancho on the last day of the window. Even with Sancho,Liverpool are a miles in front of us,so far City before they probably spend an shed load this summer,Chelsea have already recruited well & look like they add to that,Leicester will also end up with a couple of very shrewd business, they always do. We are going to get a summer of Glazer excuses from Ole.

Woke up and I'm still absolutely fuming. I just don't think we'll do it in the league now and we will be relying on the lottery of Europa. Chelsea and Leicester will win their games this week and if we don't beat Palace, we are done for. I don't think this side has the mental strength to take advantage of any slip ups.

What's also so annoying, and another sign of the sheer mental weakness of this group of players, is that we've only scored one late (85th minute onwards) equalising or winning goal in the league this season, against Palace, and we immediately let them down the other end to score after that!
We've conceded late equalising or winning goals 4 times, against Palace, Liverpool, Sheff Utd, and now Southampton.
That's 7 points worse off than we would be if our fucking defence could actually see a game out and not let in stupid late goals.
3rd would be sewn up now, 6 points clear of Chelsea. Liverpool's annoying as fuck winning run would have ended way back in October.
Traditionally, top teams, and especially United, would gain a lot more late points than lose them over a season. The fact we've let slip so many, combined with how many times we fuck up as soon as top 4/3 is there for the taking, really is testimony to a bunch of players who hide when the heat is on and shit their pants as soon as we're actually in danger of achieving something.

Genuinely concerned that mentally when the opportunity presents itself they don’t take it to get in a champs league spot. The game yesterday was there for the taking in the 2nd half. No excuses on tiredness or anything the rewards were to real and big for the players to not go out and overcome any physical or mental obstacle.

Still mega frustrated but think the reaction has been a little overboard. The lads have been outstanding since the restart. That buys them at least one ‘benefit of the doubt’ card. It’s still entirely in our own hands.
Need to put things right on Thursday.

Our own hands sure, but we've made it so we absolutely have to get something away at Leicester and I don't have faith for them to do it. A win yesterday gave us a cushion.

Everyone was waxing lyrical about us before yesterday. We can beat anyone playing like we are, blah blah blah. I’m not entirely confident we’ll do it now either but I think they’ve at least earned the right to make us wait and see if they fuck it up instead of presuming the worst and labelling them all bottlers and mentally weak before anything has been decided. Going to look fickle as hell if yesterday was just a minor bump in the road and we smash our final 3 games. By all means, go in on the lot of them if we do miss out.
