I fucking love Juan Mata. We only ever saw his best in flashes (we'll always have Juanfield), but he was outrageously misused by three consecutive managers, the latter two of whom are both among the all-time greats. His Common Goal work shows the mark of the man, and puts nearly every other footballer to shame for not doing something sooner. I really hope he is involved with the club in some capacity when he retires, I'd love to see him do one of those ambassador roles, though it doesn't really seem his style. But he seems done for us. When he can't execute a final ball, something he could always do so casually and yet so majestically, you know it's time. He might have heard me, did well for Martial's goal! |

I know it's hard to judge Chong on a game like this, but he's actually looked less of a headless chicken than he typically has in his previous cameos.

I feel a bit sorry for Mata, his legs just don't work anymore  Although weirdly when Martial came on Mata suddenly discovered his final ball again. |

Turned it off at half time. Infuriating watching a bunch of fringe players doing little to try and impress.
Dan James is not good. Was thinking he was just lacking confidence a few months back but he’s just fucking useless. Does pretty much nothing well. Give him a chance next season in the squad to try and progress but he’s going to have to improve an absolute tonne.

Love the guy and I'll be genuinely gutted when his time is up here. If people are willing to give Chong time then don't see why it should be any different for James. The lad clearly needs to work on certain areas but with the right development there's no reason why he cant be good enough. The lack in confidence atm seems to be a massive issue aswell which isnt doing him any favours but the abuse the lad has had tonight is ridiculous (not from here btw) |
