It's mental that video technology has been used to such good effect in other sports like cricket, or tennis; but is such a monumental fuck up in football.
Just get rid of it, seriously.

Does it bother anyone that Martial chose to fall over for a pen even though he was through on goal?
I mean at 0-0 with less than 10min to go that's what you kinda do out of desperation but when you're 7-0 up it's not something you'd expect to see.

They are actively encouraged to do it by the management/coaching staff at all clubs, even more so since in the introduction on VAR. It's the modern game,we either accept it or stop watching it.

Watched the full game only now , bit concerned Donny had virtually zero impact. He's not ahead of Scott on current form.
He mostly make some sideways passes and runs into vacant spaces , like i said in another thread i would like to see him play more vertical passes and take more risks.

He`s lost his way a bit because he`s not been involved enough practically a late sub in most games.

Obviously passed the point of that happening in league this season, barring an injury crisis, hopefully the Europa will give him the chance he needs.

I actually don't think it was either a dive or a penalty. There was a touch of contact and Martial did Gerrard it a bit with the fall but as said players are told to emphasise contact in the box because the referees are shite. I always think the reaction of the players is the best indicator; Martial didn't claim for anything. No dive, no foul.

But I must reluctantly agree that the refs are too thick to call for a penalty unless it's theatrical.

You could also argue that if it was a decision against us it was not going to be a penalty. its in the past now though, im sure well get the rough end of that stick at some point so we might as well take them and move on.

It's mental that video technology has been used to such good effect in other sports like cricket, or tennis; but is such a monumental fuck up in football. Just get rid of it, seriously. Cricket is interminably slow anyway, so the delay for a video call makes no difference. In football it totally kills the pace of the game. Video review tends to integrate itself into sports that are more stop-start, like tennis, cricket and US sports. They also use a challenge system where managers/players have to challenge a call they believe was wrong before video gets involved, or it’s within the last 2 min in the NFL. That would massively cut down on the time it takes to needlessly review every goal just looking for a technicality to chalk it off. Let the refs/ARs officiate properly (including flagging for offside right away) with the video ref in their ear telling them what they’ve missed (within the flow of the game.) Managers get one challenge per match. Lose it and it’s gone. Win it and you can keep challenging until you lose it. Video reviews take 30 sec. if they can’t tell in 30 sec, the original decision stands. Football was never designed to be measured down to the mm. It’s called the beautiful game for a reason.
