People seem to be spending a lot of emotion on a report about Lingard’s alleged reasons for not leaving. A report which is almost certainly bollocks. Think most of us are still just annoyed he is still fucking here. Which is totally understandable. But basing a lot of it on a rumour about him not wanting to leave his family behind in Manchester? What did he do for 6 months last year? He seems to love Utd and the manger looks like he’s told him he’ll get games. Perhaps 10 to 15 of the easier ones which may mean Bruno won’t be running on fumes by March. He can leave then next summer and go wherever he wants. It’s not perfect by any means but it’s also not the worst.

And as a result we are forced to offer a new contract to a player who is surplus to requirements that will make his wages unaffordable for smaller clubs and we will be stuck with him. Just feels like a lose lose proposition for us and West Ham Why are we forced to offer him a new contract? You don't give him one and get him off the books next year. We lose a transfer fee? We've lost that anyway, he's still here. We're not forced to offer anyone anything.

You can't always get what you want. football is a ruthless business and we can’t just keep a player here so he can be around the greater Manchester area and he has to be shipped out if he’s not good enough. That’s life but he’s a multi millionaire footballer who can well afford to make all the arrangements that are needed. My post sounds uncaring and cold but that’s the way it has to be. Agreed. How many of us here would work away from home and family for the wages he's getting paid? I certainly wouldn't think twice about it.Id move my family with me if it was that bad , the club would probably help with that too. No reason to stay whatsoever. VDB can't get a game or a loan move to save his life but this guy is been promised game time? Utter nonsense.

i must say, lindelof's reaction to varane arriving is the kind of attitude you have to like. He know's that a better player has arrived, meaning he will play less but also see's the bigger picture in that it helps him improve and helps the team too.

Castles saying he might convert to a DM in last weeks podcast. Seemingly played there in the past.

He's prone to a cock up and is too weak, but at least now he'd have Varane behind him to clean up. He occasionally pulls out a worldie ball from defence so I wonder if he could do it a bit more in midfield.

He can't be any worse than Fred at DM.

Thing is Victor's you're first back-up centre half, if he were to get injured playing DM, which I don't think he's mobile enough to do, and one of Varane or Maguire was suspended, you're into Bailly and Jones lottery territory.

How soul destroying that we're even having to discuss a club of our stature having to genuinely consider sticking an average centre back into midfield to solve the DM problem.

Unfortunately Ole is going to have to try things because what we have at present inc Scott is not good enough for week in week out. None of them like to sit like matic does and I genuinely think that’s what you need with the quality of attackers we have

We are the best counter attacking team in the country now. Having 2 DMs for a counter attacking team is stupid.
