Fred, McTominay and Matic as our 3 midfielders in the squad is just terrible really. Its amazing we are 2nd with them 3. I actually like McTominay as well, but Ole doesn't use him right. He's not a defensive midfielder. He's a box to box type as we saw in the Leeds game. No matter where his best position is though, he isn't a stater. Neither is Fred and neither is Matic. We need a much better DM and only play one of them. We really do miss Pogba. It doesn't help that Ole insists on a 4-2-3-1 rather than the better and more effective 4-3-3. That means Bruno wouldn't be a number 10 anymore but I feel he'd be just as effective as a slighter deeper, Lampard esque number 8. Pogba would be freed up to play on the other side and a top class deep playmaker number 4 would compliment them both. Fred and McTominay can be squad options (and yes, McTominay is clearly more box to box than simply sitting and defending, the guy can actually finish when he gets chances). Should go all out on a deep midfielder this summer. And a centre back. And a right back for back up. And a right winger. And a striker. And by "all out" I of course mean, wait until the last week of the transfer window then send a group email out to every European side titled "Players for sale? Like, any of them? Please."

I know most people love Henderson but I am honestly not convinced I can't say I'm fully convinced either yet - it's expected though given his age and the number of games he has played. I think he has some big pluses to his game, but also the weaknesses to go with being such a young keeper. I think IF he gets the shirt full time then he'll eventually iron them out over time, but until then, we'll continue to get the odd mistake and shakey performance.

You've nailed it there. Especially the last part 😄. If it came down to it, if I'm only getting a CB or a DM, I honestly think I'm going DM. Our CB's clearly aren't great, but if we have someone loads better assisting them, maybe we'd not look so bad at the back.

One of fred or scott in front of back 4 then pogba and bruno either side, cavani through the middle and rashy, greenwood either side of him, thats how we could be playing now and then like you say, add the quality players in those positions you've mentioned.

Huth and Morgan were shite centre backs yet Leicester only conceded 36 goals in winning the league. That was massively down to Kante sitting in front and protecting them. The season before he signed they conceded 55 goals, the season after he left they conceded 63. Get someone like that in (I know I said playmaker and he is more defensive than playmaking) but just someone top class who can protect the centre halfs and play with the ball, and we'd look a lot stronger. The fact that a 80M centre half needs protecting is another discussion for another day.

This is yet another one of those, one step forward, two steps back, piss-boiling performances that have constantly dogged us since SAF retired. Livid.

In my OT quadrant group chat one of the lads reckons we have definitely improved this season and most games haven't been shite even in wins.
I just do not get it.

This Camavinga lad is getting rave reviews at 18 years old. Him with Pogba and Bruno as a midfield 3. Laughing. Improved already.
But philosophy etc...

I honestly can't remember that many times we've played well. Like, not just wins but just a good performance over 90 minutes regardless of the score. Everton away, West Ham away. They were decent from memory. Leeds at home was fun and everything but Leeds were just mental and in all truth could have scored about 6 themselves. Southampton obviously. RB Leipzig. Sociedad. City. That about it?

Kessie ran the show today. He would be a rather useful addition. When I say useful addition, I mean bolted on starter.

What’s incredible for me is how quickly we move from playing spot-on vs the best team in the league, to getting it so wrong vs a team we should be winning quite comfortably. It’s the inconsistency that gets me. If we just always sucked I’d be much more okay with this.

Not having blame Henderson, marker blocked,McT ducks & the guy gets a unmarked header from 10 yards.
How about the other 90 mins that were we really piss poor again.
Greenwood did not have a shot the entire night, that has to be down to tactcis,if he's getting those areas.
We finished the game with 3 DM's & 3 Fullbacks on the pitch & still couldn't see it out.
Hargreaves hit the nail on the head post match on BT 'United came up against a well coached side', Scholes making all the usual noises about not being good enough etc etc everyone at fault apart from his mate.
The only + from the night was Amad getting his goal.

The coaching failures are there for all to see apart from it would seem the coaching team themselves.
Another goal conceded from a set piece, a world class dominating CB would command the penalty box but we dont have one.

Ole played the only way he knows how and so did Guardiola. Literally rock beats scissors scenario.
