Problem with Fred is he is a box to box midfielder. Not great at anything but can be effective if used correctly. The long and short is we don't use him correctly, he has done very well for Brazil in his last 6/7 games. MCT is a box to box player and if let loose will get goals, we don't use him correctly. Pogba, an attacking mid who really is best when given a free role or has a monster next to him doing 99% of the work. Donny, well hasn't been given a fair crack for us to fairly assess. The moral of the story is none of our midfielders are used well thus the outcome is our midfield gets bypassed game after game. If we can get the right combo in there then we might just looking a tad better. I'm sorry but we need balance in midfield and Scotty can play that holding role, he's not a box to box player. Fred should be sold to Newcastle for 80m quid because he's complete bollocks. We can play a 3 man midfield of Scott, Pogba and Bruno. Pogba can play centrally and be that bridge but tactics only work if players are coached to play in a system and know what's expected of them. The problem is coaching, we could play a double helix with a Xmas tree at the back and it will make no difference if the coaching is crap and the players don't understand what the game plan is. Our players don't even do simple stuff like sitting when a team mate advances into an offensive position or moving into space to receive the ball instead of standing square or running away from the ball. The problem is Ole needs to fuck off before the seasons a complete right off. We can't expect this guy to change his spots after 3 years. There's enough in this squad to atleast be competitive in midfield. Scott MCT is not a holding player. He is a natural box to box player, it’s clear as day that’s his natural game and preference. There is a reason why we wanted a DM and a reason why carrick is spending time with him. He plays is defence for Scotland because he can do it better than most of what they have. Agree on the rest |

Agree on the rest You can’t have 3 box to box players in one team, something has to give and out of the 3 he’s the most capable of playing that holding role until we find a suitable candidate. whether he is capable or not remains to be seen we have tried to get him to sit for over a season, his natural instinct is overriding that. The ideal is we just buy someone to do the role and let MCT do what he is best at. The result will be a far stronger midfield duo that inevitably allows the attack to do what they are best at, and give the backline better protection. balance is what the midfield lacks, personally I think we have 2 natural box to box midfielders in our team, fred and MCT. Pogba is a pure attacking mid, same with Bruno albeit i am sure he can do whatever is asked but you want players focusing on what they are best at. Donny the jury is out, he probably can play box to box or attacking mid, he just doesn't get the chance to show it. Matic is the only player that sits, he is 40 years old, it's obvious what we need. If we can hang on until January and go buy then perfect. |

By the way ... A sliver (just a sliver) of an improvement that he admits fault. Nailed on that Maguire gets an excuse of 'not being fit' and rewelded into the starting XI though. He won't be dropped for being atrocious. Called it. |
