Every team seemed to have enigmas like this going back to the Premiership in the 90’s. I’d happily watch a Middlesbrough game to see Juninho or a Newcastle game to see Ginola. Couldn’t tell you what either of their stats were but it was good craic watching them. I don't know if it's the misery of age and rose-tintedness but middling teams of the 90s and 2000s always seemed to have those sorts of magic players. Gazza rocking up at Boro for a couple of years in '98 comes to mind. Okocha at Bolton FFS. You still see them occasionally now but it feels rarer. Yeah Okocha is a great example. Dicanio at West Ham. I suspect it may be an old man yells at cloud thing. But kids now don’t view the game in the same way as we did then. They’d be decrying Okocha’s goal scoring stats (which I’m sure aren’t great) and calling him a fraud or a stepover merchant. Probably overexposure to football is to blame. You can pretty much watch every minute of someone’s career unfolding in front of you now can’t you.

To be fair the first time we were done the dirty by Kenyon. Yeah. Haven’t forgotten that piece of shit even though it’s been so long. The story of how Kenyon tried to screw PSV on that deal never got enough publicity. Disgraceful behaviour. ALLEGEDLY

Seeing as I’m not sure I’m following you, I agree - didn’t get enough publicity 😂 All I know is Robben, his dad and everyone came to Manchester and everything was agreed in principle. Then this prick engineered his move to Chelsea when he switched sides. Psv claimed we offered half the originally agreed fee or something isn’t it? Sure that’s down to Kenyon too..

Nor did how he agreed a deal with PSG and Ronaldinho only to faff around and allow Barca to come in on a white horse and take the player. The man was a joke

But Kenyon agreed a fee with PSV while at Utd, had them at OT, contract agreed etc. Supposedly he saw how desperate Robben was to join, thought he’d pull a fast one and tell PSV we were going back on the agreed fee and now offering less. PSV rightly told us to do one. Now it gets murky but allegedly Kenyon was about to go to Chelsea so it may have either been sabotage or incompetence but Robben signed for Chelsea not long after. For the fucking fee we’d previously agreed. ALLEGEDLY

So what are we rating the transfer window? 6/10 for me. It was a complete clusterfuck for all of it minus the last few weeks. Because of their inability to do more than a deal at a time, they put all their eggs in the De Jong basket and it was a total waste of time. Embarrassing. Meant we didn't have players in at the start which could have made a difference in our 2 defeats. We also would have got Antony for loads cheaper. Ended up spending £214m with £20m in. Still have deadwood that can't be shifted and players have gone on loan who should have been sold. Garner should have been sold for more money. On the flipside, we were never going to do it all in one summer. Would they have spent so much if it wasn't for Jim Ratcliffe? We could have ended up with Rabiot and Arnautovic. What a mess. Agree, though would probably go 5 instead of 6 because of shenanigans. Ins were good on paper but drop points for being such a giant clusterfuck and taking way, way too long. Outs still deeply unsatisfactory but at least some progress was made (and timing matters less on those as long as they happen before window ends).

If Omhisen and Murdyk aren’t the priorities in Jan/Summer 23 then we’re gonna get caught stepping, again.

But with names spelled correctly 😂 I was also guessing 'caught stepping' wasn't what you meant either. We knew what you are saying .
