I don't know why people find it so hard to believe there was no interest in Ronaldo this summer. He scored 24 goals the previous season which included 6 Champions League goals and 18 goals in the Premier League which is recognized as one of the most competitive in the world.
Obviously he is under contract so we are within our right to demand a transfer fee and refuse to pay any of his wages (i.e. in a loan deal type arrangement) so that might have made a deal impossible for any of the interested parties.
But ultimately because of that we are stuck paying almost £30m a year in wages for a player that Erik doesn't fancy and primarily uses to warm the bench. That doesn't seem like good business. Unless of course the motivation for keeping him was commercial and his mere presence in the squad is enough to generate commercial revenues for the owners.

When will people just move on. Ronaldo gaffed up and he has been punished, simple as.
He wanted out in the summer and could have left for a fee, no one wanted him (no one playing champions league football bar chelsea). We dropped our fee, he dropped his wages, still no one.
On to more important matters that everyone should be celebrating, football is better, team looking solid, long May progress continue.

Kindly elaborate with evidence which clubs came calling for Ronaldo, and how we priced them out. If ten Hag thinks he belongs on the bench - he belongs on the bench. He is not obligated to hand out starts based on what Ronaldo did at Real Madrid or what he did last year - a year where this club finished 6th. So. Roy Keane. Outright liar, yes? Or no? Roy Keane is an oracle. Unless he quotes his source, then his opinion on the matter will be meet with the same skepticism on my part. This is Roy Keane, the man who smashed players for the smallest of infringements but is quite happy to let Ronaldo get away with refusing to come on. He used Scholes as an example in that rant at the weekend. Scholes was fined and put in his place for that episode, read his book and you'll see. I've already let the Ronaldo thing go because he did apologise and has been dropped, so if he comes back into the squad then fair enough because everyone is human and he's clearly struggling to accept a role as a squad player. Could the club have handled him better, yes of course but selling him for next to nothing because he's Ronaldo and deserves special treatment? Fuck off with that shit.

We've beaten Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs, we've drawn with Chelsea but if not for a stupid mistake that would have been another win. The only blemish is the city game against the top 6. If anyone would have said we'd get those results as quickly as we have we'd have ripped their hand off (not just the results but the performances aswell) In the end he's the boss, what he says goes, hes far more qualified than any of us so im sure he knows what hes doing. 11 games into the season and we're only 3 points off 3rd place having played the teams in the top half of the table. How can people not be happy with that? We've not been perfect but nobody is expecting us to be. I'd rather focus on that than negative shit that really doesn't matter. Life's too short to be miserable all the time.

Erik is a breath of fresh air compared to Ole. He doesn't make excuses. He doesn't get carried away when we win. He knows where he wants us to be (dominating games) and knows we aren't there yet. And when he discusses individual performances he is balanced and objective.

Glad he put that out on Donny. No loan, shape up or ship out What has he said? “I don’t think the loan makes sense. It’s either he fights and proves himself in this environment or he goes, but for me, there is still a way for him,” Ten Hag said. “But it’s not going to be easy for him because the competition there is really strong.” IMO The only thing that stops him leaving in January is the club not accepting offers because they deem them too low. Same boat as Maguire really. If I owned the club, I take the hit and get them off the books, pathetic performances and no excuses.

Glad he put that out on Donny. No loan, shape up or ship out Gotta love TH's attitude. He doesn't take shit which is what we've been needing and wanting to see for years. I do like Donny but he's a passenger in this squad. He's just floating around like a spare part.

Worst thing with Donny is that he has been given like 4 games to show something and he has looked pathetic in all of them. Surely he see’s what the papers are saying, surely that motivates him?
