Given the price tag Antony should be ready made apart from a few tweaks to adjust to the PL, he defends well at times but going forward he`s lacking for me, too predictable cutting in every time to get on his left foot. This. we shouldn’t be paying 80 million plus on a player who has the tag of ‘there’s a player in there’ or ‘has potential’, you pay 10-30 on those types. I hope he turns it round over this and next season because when the new owners come in and ETH gets the transfer transfer kitty we all hope he gets, Antony won’t be getting anywhere near the starting 11. Saying that I do like him and I hope he makes it here. I'm the first person to throw a transfer fee in an under performing players face but I like abit of investing and when you pay 70-100m on an asset you are going to be pissed if its not up to scratch and contributing significantly early doors. The transfer market is insane and one can be blinded by a players fee relative to there potential but when did 100m become the norm for potential? I'm putting my trust in ETH because he's worked with him and knows him better than anyone but he's got to adjust quickly. Sancho coming back will help because he's walking into the team unchallenged.

Antony is one dimensional lacks discipline has a questionable attitude and doesn’t have much end product and generally seems like a pet project for Erik and an expensive one at that. Gakpo would have made a lot more sense at half the price. He gets a bit of a pass as it’s his first season but we made excuses for sancho and Donny in their first seasons and don’t look like making it at the club. It doesn’t help that Erik indulges him and starts him every time he’s available for selection. And from where exactly did you get all this? If there is one thing Ten Hag was clear about was that he wants discipline and a proper attitude at this club.

We’ve done the same with Sancho. Shouldn’t be paying those prices for potential. Look what we paid for AWB . We get our pants pulled down every time.

We simply panic buy because the owners don't plan ahead with the squad and we end up in positions where we have to spend big just to keep our heads above water. You can't run a football club like that and expect anything else. Clubs smell blood and stick the arm in because historically they know we will cough it up. We spend huge resources scouting players at youth level and never seem to find bargains between the ages of 23-26 anymore. When's the last time we signed a Vidic or an Evra or even a Ronny Johnson or Park Ji Sung?

Nah he’s shit and dances a lot and we overpaid for him. I’ve made these inferences after exactly 6 months of watching him.

If scoring goals in domestic cups was the mark of a players worth Lingard would be worth 100m euros. Reality is Antony only has 4 goals and zero assists in about 15 games. And the games he did score that was often his only meaningful contribution. As for the attitude and discipline you can see it in the way he plays. That’s fine if there is some kind of end product but that’s lacking. Maybe he will come good and Erik obviously sees something in him but so far it’s very frustrating. Also Stuart Pearce made a comment that Erik and Bruno said he’d be a good player if he actually listened which seems to have a ring of truth.
He also annoyed me with the cupping his ears goal celebration after scoring his first goal in months and doing little else the rest of the game.

Nobody quite shits on their new players like us.
Antony has only been playing football in Europe for a little under 3 years, the first 2 1/2 spent in a far easier Dutch league.
Call me crazy but maybe we can afford him just a little time before declaring him a dud and a waste of money.

I’m not blaming him for the fee. That’s all on Erik and Murtough for paying twice what he’s worth. And of course he deserves more time. But we need to win stuff and Rashford can’t bear the entire burden in attack so we need him to step up and learn as much as he can from the coach and more experienced players around him and adapt his game to become more effective.

And I can guarantee you there are people on the edge of their seats waiting for Rashford to have a poor game so they can say it was just a run of luck or for us to lose a game so they can claim they're still not convinced with Ten Hag. It's just sad at this point.

We really need a “dislike” button for some of the downright nonsensical posts that regularly appear on this forum.

i do enjoy how a lot of our players talk about "resting", "eating well", "looking after their bodies" etc. i can imagine this is something that ETH instilled in them. he seems to pay a lot of attention to all those little details connected - from nutrition, rest, mental health and everything else that will make you a great athlete.
i go to the gym 3-4 times a week, for usually 2 hours, ride long distances on the bike in the summer on top of it. whenever i stop drinking alcohol for a while and eat healthy, everything transforms: my weighlifting is becoming better, my mental health, my sleep, i wake up without too many issues in the morning and perform extremely well at work. then i drink again, eat bad food or start order food to my home, forget to stretch after workouts etc and for a while i am confused as to why the fuck i am tired, sleeping like shit and battling through working days.
i figured for myself that if one of those things are out of balance, it can have an effect on the rest.
long story short: what i want to say is that i enjoy having a manager that recognizes our modern day and age. who knows that all those small details are important to remain a top player. that is why athletes like ronaldo, zlatan, lebron etc have done this for so long.
