For any old fart on here who remembers, that felt more like Galatasary 3-3 than Bayern 2-3. At least we had the excuse of playing a very good Bayern team, and having a man sent off. Galatasary were shite and the game should have been seen out and then some. I'm not just defending ETH, and if someone makes a wrong call then they are open to critisicm, but it's very harsh to gave him shit about the subs. He literally just got dogs abuse for not making a change at 2-0 which ended in Rashford out for weeks, so he does make changes to try and avoid burning players out and them getting injured, and gets shit for throwing the lead away? I'm sorry you can't have it both ways, he can't make changes and not make changes at the same time. That's the risk you take when you sub players and the bench options are shite (as ours are), he either gets the shite on the pitch and hopes for the best, or leaves the stars out there and equally hopes for the best. If he'd not made the changes and Martial for instance got injured, he'd be getting it in the neck from the same people who are giving him both barrels for making changes. The context of each game was different, and the changes ten Hag made last night did nothing but add to a prevalent feeling of complacency. You can have it both ways - it just means the manager has been wrong twice now.

Shaw will be one of the CBs soon hopefully. He should be back on Sunday. Sooner the better. We're just allowed to have nice things it would seem.

Cant be too harsh on ETH , he saw we were cruising at 2-0 at 70 mins and decided to sub to avoid anymore injury or a yellow/red card. It backfired. These players should be good enough to hold onto a 2-0 lead for 20 mins. Thats not on the manager. Also Varane as good as he is cant stay fit long enough , a CB is high priority for next season. We weren't cruising at 2-0 though. We had already started to slack off in the first half.

The fee looked fair at the time for the level of talent we thought we were getting. But the wages are madness. However, that’s not Ole’s fault is it. Think it’s unfair for people to just file him under “Ole filled the club with dross”. Oh absolutely.I don't think anybody thought he'd be a flop. Tatty dislikes this.

Sick of the sight of them two carrying him off. Why did we allow that? He’s broken his foot, get a stretcher. That’s the process. Not carry him off to get the game going quicker against ten men. Maguire should’ve been in there, put him down, get a stretcher, slow the game down, take the sting out of the moment. Say what you want about Bruno, but man’s a moaner, he’s not letting them two pick him up unchallenged. If that’s the other way round, their players aren’t letting two of ours carry an injured player off. Under those circumstances? No chance. There’d be murders, it would be chaos. Just not savvy enough at all. Martinez has let them do it cos they’re his mates, but fuck that. Get involved, slow it down.

This is where Erik has to start earning his salt. Whatever makeshift defence he pieces together is going to leak at least a goal and probably two goals a game. So we need to start scoring for fun. We have no defence. So let's go with the old adage that attack is the best form of defence. And if it backfires and we suffer the occasional hammering I am OK with that.
Eriksen is back. Rashford will be back soon. Martial is fit and Erik will need to find a way to keep him that way as with Wout upfront we won't outscore anyone. Sabitzer and Bruno and Antony are goal threats. Sancho scored goals for Dortmund so needs to step up with his team in dire need.
We need this squad to pull together and overcome adversity and dig deep and keep pressing on. And I would be far more sympathetic if we tried and failed than if we simply gave up and moaned about referees and injuries and fixture congestion for the rest of the season.

Like watching Fred walking a tightrope in that CL game before he finally got a red card.

Fuck that's Maguire and/or Lindelof in for the rest of the season. I'd rather we played Phil Jones. Jones is head bog attendant, probably doesent bother training any more, he`s got a nice set of mops though.

I’m wondering whether the old ‘Phil Jones’ at the back of the garage is going to be dusted off and given an airing?

Is there no way of recalling Bailly? Marseille don't want him and are deliberately not playing him to avoid triggering the obligation to buy clause.

He wouldn’t be registered for Europe but would at least be an option on the bench for the league. I think rules are in place to stop that though, not sure.

Casemiro can play in defence. So that might also be a good option that will allow us to keep Maguire on the bench where he belongs. And at least Casemiro's leadership skills would allow us to organize a makeshift defence.
Not keen on a 3 man defence. We need Antony and Rashford out wide. But I think AWB as RB Casemiro alongside either Lindelof/Shaw as CB and Dalot/Shaw at LB and we should be able to get by.

Luke Shaw is probably about 70% fit, yet currently our best available CB 🙈
