That defensive performance should put to rest any notion that Maguire should play. He’s literally dragged a good centre half in Lindelof down to his level.

Defence deserves a lot of credit especially as Brighton bossed midfield. Caicedo is a beast. Forget Bellingham and find £100m or whatever it takes to buy the lad why are we not scouting and signing players like him. We wouldn't buy him the other summer because of third party ownership or something, he was apparently really close to signing for penny's as well. |

Understand the De Gea discourse. But there’s still so much more that needs doing with the outfield personnel, that a new GK is probably two or 3 summers done the line. And it’s not like Dave is shit. He’s just not the GK we probably need for how the manager wants to play now.

Keeping it simple today with Dave was key. None of that tiki tacky with the CBs, just straight up the field, took out a lot of heart burn for me.

I liked the defensive strategy up high on Caicedo and Mac. We were marking both out as pass options from their CBs and stopping the quick attack. Yes, they starting finding options behind those two, but was good to see a tactical nuisance from ETH.

We were also heavily linked with palinha of fulham when he was at sporting And nunes of wolves Obviously signed none of them because that would have been sensible, we’ll now end up paying 70m for one of em |
