6 points clear with 2 games in hand, but honestly I wouldn't bet on us! Casemiro has been way off for a while too, but he's probably being dragged down by the mediocrity and culture around him. Or he's shot physically. The squad is paper thin at best and his options include Weghorst and emmm To be fair he's had 7 more games off than most of them 😂. He's class but he's been way off it since thw cup final. Fatigue may be partly to blame but last few games his passing has been very unlike him.

Pellistri is sat in his seat while Weghorst is on the pitch. So who can he bring on instead of malacia and Fred? Look pellestri looks a good talent, but that bench is wank, our squad is wank, until that is sorted out subs are going to be shite. Didn't need to replace Wan Bissaka and Sabitzer would have been the other option for Fred. Our legs were cut the moment Weghorst came on for Antony. Pellestri should have been the option there. Christ I'd rather have seen Elanga on than a 10ft tall striker that can't even head a ball. As soon as he comes on we're effectively down to 10 men.

It’s a mentality problem. That decent run in empty stadiums papered some very big cracks away from home.

Just 10 points from those games and we’re in a title fight. Need to get over this mental issue we have against these teams.

For 3 seasons we’ve signed on loan strikers. Our biggest issue imo is up front.

For 3 seasons we’ve signed on loan strikers. Our biggest issue imo is up front. That's the cheapness and short term thinking. Midfield though is also a disaster. Casemiro was a great signing and Eriksen was a free at the end of his career, but look at the dross we bought in midfield! and it's still there

A couple of really easy cup runs have really masked the reality of this season and the reality is we have made very little progress.

For 3 seasons we’ve signed on loan strikers. Our biggest issue imo is up front. Especially this season. We have a striker that is 6ft 6 and since he signed for us has won 25 of the 62 aerial battles he's had. He can't shoot for shit. His only attribute seems to be "being a nice guy".

There's been progress.
A trophy is still a trophy, you can't demand one then dismiss it as easy when it's delivered. And the team we played in the final is 3rd top of the league and took 4 points from us this season. Again, dismiss Newcastle as being shite as much as you like but they're not. They're 3rd on merit.
The home form has been a lot better than last season, which is something, even if away we've been bloody awful. Players have also improved, you can't look at Rashford, Shaw, or AWB and tell me they are no better than last season. Rashford has had the greatest season of his career. Is that all down to ETH? No idea really, maybe, maybe not. But regardless, he deserves some credit.
The issue was January and we all know it. If a proper striker had been brought in, then things could have been very different. But one wasn't. Wout was instead, and try as he might, he is incredible average and completely out of his depth.
Injuries have also hit us, hard. Shaw, Martinez, Varane, Eriksen, Rashford, Martial and Garnacho all being out for periods is a massive blow. 6 of those are guaranteed starters when fit, and the other a great young impact sub. Any club in the league would miss 6 regulars being out. Then there's Sancho and Greenwoods situations.
I'm a fan of ETH's, so admit I try to see the positives and defend him. I just think it's wiser to judge season 2 rather than season 1. If we're still getting the odd absolute hammering, still a good 15 points off the top in April, then he's got something to answer for.
