I'm pretty confused as to why Shaw didn't get a second yellow for the handball at the end? Seen red cards given for that, many many times. Why would it be? It wasn’t intentional so shouldn’t be a yellow card? That's fair, the application of the law surrounding what is intentional/not, and whether that's relevant, seems so vague that I'm not entirely sure anymore.

May not be accurate as it’s from twitter, but we’ve supposedly missed 83% of our ‘big chances’ this season.
Makes you wonder how we’ve done as well as we have if it is. Even after Rashford’s purple patch, I still don’t have full confidence/expectation that any of our forwards will finish off a chance.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda, what’s done is done ! Absolutely no point harking back to a perceived injustice re Liverpool ,we should’ve either kept them out,or,more preferably, scored in the first half ! Perceived? Did you see Nunez? But we used to control our own destiny Stew ,where we’d NEVER (mostly anyway!) even deign to mention another club. ETH is trying to instill that mentality again per SAF,which, coupled with a new owner, will hopefully get us on the path.

Meanwhile Osimhen scores yet again to help Napoli clinch the league title with 5 games to spare. The difference an actual top striker makes. We better not fuck that up in the summer. Do bears…….

I bet Michael Owen never believed there would be a downgrade worse than him.

Had we signed a proper striker (or even Gakpo) in January, I think that not only would we certainly be in the top 4, but we’d be up there with City and Arsenal still battling for the title.
It was up for grabs and we once again didn’t do what was needed to be done. (Rightfully) Letting go of Ronaldo and replacing him with a poor man’s Dutch Fellani, pathetic.

Shaw was saying he got a nudge in the build up to the handball. I’m inclined to say he didn’t, but I wouldn’t know as they literally only looked at one angle and a still frame. Alan Smith literally went “well, you only need to look at the still frame”. You don’t, mate. That’s literally the opposite of how it should work.
Worth remembering that Marriner did fuck all when Evra reported racist abuse to him. That’s the sort of standards the fella holds himself to.
Anyway, I think we’re going to bottle top four. I’d resigned myself to losing the cup final the second we won the shootout. And the Glazers will stay. What an end to a promising season.

Since Van Persie
Falcao Zlatan Lukaku Ighalo Cavani Ronaldo Weghorst
2 36/37 year olds when we signed them. A Burnley reject. One off the back of a major injury. Another on a free. 10 million loan deal from China. 2 were out of contract.
Which leaves us just with Lukaku.
Elite club my arse!

I think we are clutching too much to excuses on the board.
-If we'd had a world class striker.... -If certain bad refereeing decisions hadn't been made... -If we'd avoided injuries to key players... -If we had different owners -If we weren't playing as many games
And historically
-If only we had a top class manager -If only we had a world class CDM -If only we had a proper RW -If only we had better central defenders It is as if we are on this unachievable quest for perfection and quite happy to sell out to Qatari interests to help us try to achieve it. But we are forgetting a lot of Fergie teams that won stuff lacked quality and/or depth. I hate to use it as an example but in recent years Liverpool have overachieved despite issues with quality/depth. And this season Arsenal and Newcastle are punching way above their weight. Our season is overhyped there has been some progress and Erik has steadied the ship but struggling for a top 4 finish and winning a domestic cup is actually pretty typical of the post Fergie years as is very impressive runs of form that give way to slumps. Only City have the theoretical ability to buy two top class players in every position. Other clubs have to do the best with what they have and try to improve their squads as much as they can within budgetary constraints etc.
Reality is that even with a change of ownership we aren't going to be able to spend big because of FFP and our total inability to sell players for good prices. Players are going to get injured because we play a lot of games and the quality of refereeing is poor so we're going to get a lot of bad decisions against us.
Where we need to focus on is changing the mentality, getting everyone to play as a team rather than over-relying on key players, improving in-game management, and being savvier in the transfer market and getting the right balance in the squad.

Can we stop with with this purple patch shit ffs, its completely unnecessary after the season he's had. He's allowed to have quiet games. It's others around him that need to step up when this happens and they're not. He's been one our best players this season and wouldnt be in the position we're in without him. People need to stop waiting for him to have a poor game just so they can go back to twisting the knife again.

Our fans went in two footed though because he said some upsetting truths about some of our players along with the Glazers.
