It's been far from a fantastic season no matter what happens. Losing 7-0 to Liverpool automatically discounts it from being fantastic even if we'd won the league and they, City and Leeds were all relegated.
One trophy and top 4 is a meh season. I doubt too many of us will be looking back over a beer or two in 2035 and saying "Remember 2023? Ooh when we won the league cup and finished 4th?! Fuck, what a time to be alive that was."
Two trophies and top 4 is good but just that.
If no top 4 then it's disappointing regardless of the cups.
But ultimately, it's all about this takeover. None of us will remember or give two shits about losing to Brighton or West Ham if the deal goes through, the parasites are gone from the club forever, and the debt removed. That's literally all that counts now.

If we don't get it right then anything more than the Carabao Cup or a top 4 finish will be the best we can hope for.

Personally, I think top 4 and two trophies (especially the FA Cup) would be a very decent return for ETH's first season with this squad, in a season with 60+ games with the injuries + suspensions etc we've had.
United is all about trophies, and another FA Cup win would put us right back behind Arsenal.
I think (but stand to be corrected) it would put us level on total trophies with Liverpool again too (68 total).
CL football should provide sufficient pull to get our Summer targets, but as said the takeover is the major cloud hanging over it all.
Beating City in the final would, in all fairness, be a pretty phenomenal result to cap the season with. Hard to see it, though.

Your going to have tight games in a season and you can't afford to have someone like that between the sticks. I'm not disagreeing mate. The problem is what position do you sacrifice upgrading to replace him? I can't see us having a huge transfer pot to play with so something will have to give. You don't sacrifice anything, you do what a big club would do and spend the additional money on a top-class keeper. That wouldn't happen under the Glazers, but it may do under INEOS or the Qataris.

Which is obviously what I'm basing it off. Unless we get Qatari's in I can't see us having much of a pot to play with, hence the sacrificing. Should the latter happen then great, but until then we can't act like a big club because with these cunts in charge we're not being run like one.

Main reasons I’m still ETH in.
A trophy’s a trophy. Maguire has been dumped. A new manager gives these losers a new lifeline. Our home form.
He’s got another season to improve.

I just refuse to back any of these players over any manager ever again. Plenty of these shithouses have had multiple chances to show their worth, they fail everytime it matters. Ten Hag will have my full backing until he gives a reason not to. He wasn't backed in January which has added to the problems. The problems at this club are greater than the manager, this has been proven time and time again.

If we fail to make top 4 it would be a black mark against Erik especially as he also failed to achieve Champions League qualification via the Europa League. And I think he would need to win a domestic cup double to redeem himself.
Worth remembering that in LVG's final season he won a domestic cup and failed to achieve top 4 and got the sack. So if we miss out on top 4 and lose the FA Cup final the season would be a failure but forgivable because it is Erik's first season at the club and there have been some mitigating factors and part of the reason he was hired is for his potential as a manager so he'd be given some room to improve next season.

I wonder what Martial was thinking when the horse started before him?
Probably nothing went through his lazy half arsed head.

I wonder what Martial was thinking when the horse started before him? Probably nothing went through his lazy half arsed head. Being benched for arguably the worst No.9 in football says all you need to know. The fact he hasn't used it as an opportunity to pull his finger out just sums up his attitude and is a prime example of what is still wrong with some of this squad. Half of them aren't willing to give 100%. Bin him ASAP.

Gives us new hope going forward knowing we will be released of the Glazer's incompetence.
