I was listening to a podcast with Jim O'Neill being interviewed by Bloomberg. He was saying the price the Glazers are looking for doesn't make any sense, unless it's the intention of buyers is more philanthropic in nature or the Qatar bid has other reasons and or they have some new model to justify it. He was also saying that there are only 2 bidders and that all the other interest is BS. That the Glazers have been pumping the price through sports media and that the process has gone on way too long! With way too much publicity, which is very odd for a public listed company! He reckoned the NYSE should be looking into it. That podcast was recorded 6 weeks ago and there is still is no agreement. They are still fucking this club up and getting away with it! What they're looking for the club is crazy. Basically want a 6x return on something they never bought in the first place. I know mate, but that's the world of financial engineering and we've lived in for the last 20 years. It's probably coming to an end. It actually doesn't make a lot of sense in terms of pure investment and return! The United Brand is more like a vanity project or something somebody is willing to pay well over the odds for the prestige and joy of owning it! I hope these potential owners are genuinely motivated by improving the football club and the City/Community. It would appear that way, but I would worry that price tag will leave less for what is needed! I don't know much about the Qatari personalities involved, but Ratcliffe is a very smart guy and has connections to the City. I think this is the key, that whoever it is will be more hands on and involved in the Academy, the facilities and the way we plan for recruitment etc.

I've no problem with an owner making a return on any investment but not at the expense of the thing they've invested in. Theres no real difference between what the glaciers done and what Philip Green did to BHS. They've bollocked the club up and I can only hope the next set of owners fix it.
