We need to sign 2 high quality midfield players just to keep up going on that performance for this season, can anyone see that happening? Had we lost, then maybe but its really dependent on selling players. If Ten Hag doesn't get better players in midfield, then he'll be forced to change the shape of his team and most likely be forced to pack the midfield out, so they don't get overrun like that again.

Desperately poor performance but I’ll save the overreaction until after the spurs game. They are full of running, energy and pressing so let’s see how we stand up against that. Is that not what we were up against last night? Pressing wasn’t full on all game, but their energy and running were on another planet compared to ours.

they looked fitter, stronger, bigger, more fluid.. we looked clueless.
Nunes would walk straight into our midfield.
our pre season was a load of shit and hasnt helped the side whatsoever.

Nunes was very highly rated at Lisbon and last night you saw why. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Scousers went in for him after their latest rejection.

Where to start re that performance last night... Will start on a positive, at least we got the 3 points. After that it's pretty much all negative, toothless up front which was no real surprise given that's how we finished last season, but particularly bad last night. Unfortunately I think the game swallowed up Garnacho & he didn't grab his opportunity. Midfield had a complete SHOCKER! Mount was all over the show, don't think he knew where he was meant to be most of the time, midfield 3 couldn't keep the ball, couldn't stop Wolves running straight through them, awful. Defence did it's job given how exposed they were did well to keep a clean sheet, also they created & scored our goal. I think Onana did well, some decent saves. His passing game (which he was bought for) never got going as the 10 statues in front of him offered zero movement. Also don't think it was a penalty, he was contesting a high ball with 2 Wolves players & there was a coming together, goalkeepers tend to get more protection in those situations in general, not a pen imo. 3 points in the bag but real opportunity missed in terms of performance imo, Wolves should have been cannon fodder & a confidence builder. Hoping for big improvements for Spurs.

Be interesting to see how EtH solves the midfield problem. As promising as Mainoo is, he can’t be expected to be the solution once he’s back from injury.
We need balance as Casemiro was so exposed last night - his legs are already declining and bringing on someone with even slower legs was never going to change anything.
Let’s hope that performance prompts the cheque book to come out again. If we don’t sign another defensive minded midfielder before the window shuts, this season is going to be awful.
I keep coming back to the hope that Bruno ends up missing a few games and then we stumble upon a midfield that works and finds some form and consistency.

Major positives from last night are the 3 points, and the fact that Maguire started and remained on the bench.
Missing a Nr. 9 still, but let's be honest it could have been worse - we could easily have lost that.
Not going to get carried away with panic + criticism just yet, need to keep some energy in the tank for the rest of the 50-60 games left in the season!
Rashford just isn't a CF, and his most dangerous moment(s) were when we received the ball out wide.
Garnacho, whilst a clearly having world-class potential, needs to start performing when given the chance to start otherwise he'll find himself coming off the bench again this season - I think he scored the highest number of goals after 85 mins for United last year (4/5 if I recall).

The biggest worry about last night, was we just didn't look fit enough, so slow and just no real movement at all, watching cas last night it looked like his legs had gone, he just looked a yard behind the game.

Agreed - just on the midfield, where was Hanibal last night? One of the bright points of preseason & could have added some much needed bite to our midfield during the match.

Everyone was so slow and disjointed, which is bizarre after ETH’s incessant talk of being well drilled, organised, fast etc etc.
There was one moment where Onana (a ray of hope on a poor night) claimed the ball and looked to quickly distribute to launch a counter, and about 5-6 of our players were actually behind him in the goal area, just gawping like idiots.
I hope this is something of a wake up call because it looks like nothing has changed since LVG really.

Garnacho’s best performances have been as an impact player coming off the bench. At some point he’s going to have to manage that situation. Can’t use the youth angle forever.

It was a such a frustrating game to watch. Every season these guys do the same thing really, not sure what it is with this club. Looked leggy and lazy as hell. I really thought that the 2nd half would be better but NO! more of the same shit. Very very lucky with the 3 points just cause Wolves were shittier in front of goal, we could have easily been hammered here 3 or 4 just like Brighton last season.
These players are useless, all of them, they cant be arsed to put in a decent performance. Spurs this weekend, and I'm already dreading it...
Sorry for the negative post but last night was just so frustrating, same old shit again and again every season.
