Apparently Martinez has a slight ankle injury… As daft as it sounds, I’m not that concerned with Lindelof replacing him for a game or two if needed (we still need a new CB though). What I’m more concerned about is that we do not have a single attacking player that’s consistent. Rashford, Antony, Sancho, Garnacho, Martial, Bruno… they can all have their moments, but too often they are sandwiched in between absolute dross. Other than Rashford’s purple patch (which seems to be well and truly over), I don’t think any of them have shown a prolonged period of 7/8 out of 10’s for as long as I can remember, which is flabbergasting when you consider how much these fuckers are being paid.

I’m happy we have Onana, but DDG also doesn’t steam in to give away a stonewall pen that we somehow get away with. Onana needs to wise up very very quickly. Onana was excellent tonight. Never a penalty. If a defender does that - nowhere near the ball - it’s definitely given, why any different for a goalie?

For me, he looked at the ball all the time when he was jumping out and missed it completely. Would have been a harsh penalty for me. It looks bad cause as a keeper you have your hands out flapping like that whereas if it was a defender it would have been heads.

The most irritating thing about the performance was the attitude of the players. None of them wanted to do much running or barely even move at all.
Lost count of the times Rashford had the ball and just ran into players losing the ball. Same happened with Antony. Both were utterly pathetic.
That's a performance you expect from a season like last where we played the amount of games we did. Not for the first game of the season.

That was a stonewall penalty and if it happened the other end we'd be up in arms about it. Onana was nowhere near the ball and jumped into the player. Shat it when he ran over to the touchline thinking he was going to the monitor. Was relieved when he only booked Gary O'Neil 😂

The whole front three was poor, only one i feel for is Rashford. I don't want to be making excuses for him early but he has no business as a striker and the manager knows this. You play Sancho as a false 9 all pre season surely for a reason.
Let's see what happens against spurs, play like yesterday and they will put us to the sword.
After a year ETH needs to show us a playing style.

Playing badly and winning is a halmark of all successful sides, but it's never great to watch. Dire.
Varane being up there at 75min to score a header, and recieving the cross from our RB says something.

In the same way it’s always been different for a keeper. In a similar way to obstruction near the goal line, anywhere else it’s a free kick. If we start giving penalties every time a keeper misses a cross and bumps into an opposition player, we’ll have 3 a game most likely.

Another thing i noted is that Shaw is not an inverted fullback. The guy is great at overlaps and driving the ball in.
This is a big big season for us, thus far it looks like the decks are being cleared and more ETH type players are beig brought in. He is gonna have to find the perfect balance between the style he wants and playing to players strengths.

I watched the Chelsea game the other day and if you forget the prices for a second, one thing pissed me off. Enzo is a top quality midfielder but he has one drawback- he’s the pace of a lazy snail. If he was a Utd midfielder, dating all the way back to Carrick, we’d seemingly be happy for him to play there without any real support and then shrug when teams overran him at will. Chelsea however, realise this isn’t good for either the player or the team and go our and buy a mobile, energetic ball winner in Caicedo and probably another one in Lavia., all but insuring Enzo can dominate by playing his natural game.We never properly helped Carrick after Hargreaves went down and it now looks like we’ve decide to hang Casemiro out to dry by playing two attacking mids and hoping for the best. Considering the midfields we’ve had historically this is ludicrous behaviour.

Anyway, we know that one of our guys will be assaulted by a Spurs player and nothing will be given this Saturday.

It was a such a frustrating game to watch. Every season these guys do the same thing really, not sure what it is with this club. Looked leggy and lazy as hell. I really thought that the 2nd half would be better but NO! more of the same shit. Very very lucky with the 3 points just cause Wolves were shittier in front of goal, we could have easily been hammered here 3 or 4 just like Brighton last season. These players are useless, all of them, they cant be arsed to put in a decent performance. Spurs this weekend, and I'm already dreading it... Sorry for the negative post but last night was just so frustrating, same old shit again and again every season. Anyone accusing you of being negative is deluded, we were rubbish end of.

Onana made pretty heavy contact with their player but not with the one that headed the ball and that’s why it wasn’t given, had he smashed into the other player it would have.

If a defender clocks a forward with his hands then, duh ?! Goalkeepers should always have the benefit of doubt in that situation. What you want him to do, not attack the ball and give that man a free header ?
