People are too quick to make excuses for Ten Hag. All his predecessors faced similar issues and still had to finish top four to keep their jobs. And he’s been given close to £400m to spend and handpicked his new recruits.
Agree though that things will get better once Hojlund is available for selection and a slow start is to be expected when we played the reserves in most of the preseason games and the midfield issue is so obvious that I expect it will somehow get partially fixed before the end of the month
But going forward it’s clear we need a proper director of football to work with Erik to complete the rebuild as we cannot afford to keep making mistakes in the transfer maket

Mount was a completely unnecessary buy if money was an issue, which is clearly is. The very definition of a luxury buy from a team that can’t cash cheques like it pretends it can.

Absolutely especially as for the same money we could have bought Amrabat and Pavard.

Watching the women’s final and struck by how hard each player on both sides played on every play. Watching it I wondered if United’s players showed half that intensity, I’d actually be surprised. We still have players that consistently just don’t put in the effort. Lots of finger pointing and no one actually working hard
Roy Keane said it last night, too many players standing around not helping out. Agree w his Cuckoo land comments that became a meme as well…

Roy Keane taking the piss out of Martial has lifted my spirit slightly I can imagine what he’d say in the dressing room to that fraud.

Other thing that makes zero sense to me is that we rejected £30m for Scotty. He was an unused substitute last night and clearly isn’t in Erik’s plans. And while he has a lot of energy he doesn’t have the technical ability to play in a Ten Hag team. And you’d expect Mainoo to leapfrog him in the pecking order. So what’s the point of keeping him when that £30m could be invested in someone we could actually use

We missed two chances to offload players and get some cash.

the whole window now looks like a mess.
we needed someone to sit near Casemiro and i thought mount could do that but hes another bruno.
how on earth we paid 100m for Antony. Diaby for Villa looks double the player for half the price

Just read that we’re 3rd in the league in big chances created (6 chances) yet only have one goal to show for it. We needed two forwards this summer. Whatever you think of Kane, he would’ve helped solved our issue in front of goal, which is why ten Hag wanted him but the club balked at the price. We’re a weak football club, reactive rather than proactive.

ETH turned it around after a slow start last season, I’m confident he’ll do it again.

Btw, Onana yesterday gave us a glimpse about what he is about. Passing, saves, mentality! That’s a proper proper signing there Shame there was no decent player to take advantage. I absolutely love his approach, and some of the passes he was pinging about were brilliant!

And his Barnet denotes he’s as mad as fuck-a ‘better’ Bartez if you will- which is great! I absolutely love the way he’s started, unfortunately NOT backed up by his bloody teammates yesterday. Still far too many kinks need ironing out!
