Olise in the summer getting a lot of traction.
He’d be an excellent signing imo. A winger who actually crosses the ball? Witchcraft.

I actually would like us to play Diallo between now and the end of the season and see how he develops, we might just have a proper player on our hands

Olise has potential to develop but i cant say im buzzin about it. altho i was buzzing about Sancho and look how thats turned out. maybe its a new approach. hes a winger that comes off the wing and doesnt have bundles of pace. similar to Antony really.
id take Werner on loan its a better option than Rashford or Martial up top

Guerra at Valencia, one that we seem to ne keeping an eye on. Talented box to box mid. Good engine, good dribbling, good shot. 20 years of age.

ESPN reporting that Erik is demanding to retain his right to veto any transfers which is apparently written into his existing deal. Hopefully SJR will stand firm and tell Erik to do one. To be honest he's the manager, I think he should be more than entitled to have a say in who comes in as he has to work with them. We do however need somebody in the role to have the final say. Whoever comes in needs to also put a ban on players that have played in the Dutch league 😂. Yeah, forcing players on managers isn’t the best strategy. You want the two to work in harmony really. Donny was potentially forced on Ole and that didn’t work out. Historical examples would be Shevchenko and Ballack upon José which really caused the breakdown with him and Abramovic at the time.

There is a balance and I think that’s what most of us want. The club has a philosophy in terms of style and development, a manager can come in and identify the type of players he wants that fit in that style and philosophy. There is a big difference between go get me Antony and I want a left footed right winger etc etc. He rightly should have a say, but his say should not be so strong that you spend all summer chasing FDJ and also pay over 3 times the value for Antony or you shaft DDG. For me the balance is key and we just seem to go from one extreme to the other.

There isn't a fucking chance I'm okay with giving this man final say on transfers. Isn't Onana, Mount, Antony, Rashford's new contract enough evidence? No fucking playstyle almost 20 months on?
A strategy is needed, starting with a Director of Football, a revamped scouting department, etc. A defined player hiring plan, looking at players to fit a playstyle. That way even if this guy gets the boot we aren't stuck with a group of shit players.
If manager doesn't like it he can fuck off. Hasn't earned that kind of clout at all.

Honestly, between reading all the different threads on ROM lately, there’s nothing but reasons and evidence ETH cannot continue, and zero for.
I don’t care who comes in this month there’s no hope that it’ll translate to progress on the pitch with this man pulling the strings on match days and training.

You don't want to force players on a manager. But in the modern game the role of the manager in the recruitment process is to make suggestions and advise on the profile of player he wants rather than calling the shots. Most of the work will be done by the recruitment team consisting of the scouting network, the transfer chief and the footballing director. Clearly the manager will have preferred targets on the shortlists drawn up. But financial considerations come into play so if the asking price is unreasonable or the player isn't interested you move on to other targets. And the process above results in casting a wide net and using data-driven approaches to supplement the scouting process.
That should be a massive improvement on the last decade in which: 1) Firstly, Ed abused his veto powers and forced onto managers players he thought would sell shirts 2) Erik and his Dutch agent basically handpicked targets and made Murtough buy them whatever the cost

seeing that we are in for 'the new caicedo' for just £4 million. Óscar Zambrano Luton in talks but likely if we stepped in he would choose us.
At that price just pay the damn fee, nothing to lose really.
