All the social media warriors convinced we ruined Sancho and he will do so well back in Dortmund. To say the least I’m not. Fuck the rat. The way he's behaved since going back to Dortmund puts him in the Di Maria category for me now. He may go back to Dortmund and do well but it'll have no baring on how poorly he's done whole he's been here. That shit is on him.

Seems to be more likely to be a loan + obligation to buy deal.
I feel for the lad. Worked his way up through the youth setup. U23 player of the year. Went on a tough loan move to Preston and played a lot of games for them. Returned to us hoping for some game time with our injury crisis. But Erik instead decided to cart him off on loan and bring in Reguilion. And now he's off to Benfica without ever playing a game for us.
It seems that as a youth player to get games under Erik you really need to have something special e.g. Mainoo and Garnacho. He'd rather pick mediocre players with experience (e.g., Scotty) or his own signings (e.g., Antony) over youngsters like Hannibal or Pellistri who haven't really been given a fair chance to develop this season.
So probably fairer to get Hannibal and Pellistri decent loan moves rather than let them rot on the bench 2nd half of the season. And if we can get some money for them in the summer that at least increases our budget.

Erik (hopefully)ain't making it past the summer so no point trusting his judgement

Pogba springs to mind as an error, more because we bought him back though as Fergie’s initial judgement of his character was spot on. We all become more attached to the idea of young players, but this lad probably just isn’t good enough, same as 99% of the others who come through.

The class of 92 was pretty miraculous but it's even rarer today because clubs have enormous budgets and it's easier to buy than employ and analyse young talent. You'd think the current economics of football would have clubs prioritising academys but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Most youth players don't make PL standard, naturally.
We still sell fucking bad and ridiculously cheap compared to others.

Going back to the Fergie era. Probably worse back then as there was actual value to the players we were selling. They were all good assets for other clubs, just surplus to requirements at the world’s biggest club. There was a point where the the top two tiers were littered with players we’d reared. So many go on to have good careers, just not at the very top of the pyramid.

Mejia 3 goals and 5 assists in 9 appearances in Premier League 2. Plays as a winger.
OK he is 20 so a bit of a slow developer. But when you consider all the money we've been wasting on wingers surely it would have been worth giving him a loan move and seeing how he does before writing him off completely?
