Erik needs to get over his obsession with the Dutch and German leagues.
Kane is scoring more than a goal a game over there. Sancho was a goals and assists machine for Dortmund. Even Wout scored goals in Germany. The standard is a lot lower than the EPL.

cant say im too mad about it.
if hes a squad player then great. Hojlund isnt ready to be starting every game and Martial is a sick note.
werner could be of benefit - if he doesnt cost a fortune.
its extremely hard to pick up CF's nowadays. Toney would be my option but he will cost too much

Werner scored 16 in 40 last season for RB Leipzig.
Before that, he'd scored 12 goals in 52 games (20/21), and then 11 goals in 37 games (21/22) for Chelsea.
If the fee isn't terrible, another potential source of 12-15 goals in a season that isn't Martial.
I think everyone would prefer we line up some generational youth signing, but Werner isn't the worst profile and age at the right price.

You are right about the fact he is supposedly unhappy however I would not dismiss the link out of hand, Have been linked with him before he moved back to Germany. In any case he would not be my choice as a striker, just seems another left sided player that would be inconsistent. My preference is buy guaranteed or look for some unearthed talent that will contribute to our goals and all round play. Someone the coaches can polish and take to world class level. |

The striker we currently have is getting zero service. What makes people think bringing in another will make any difference, especially one who couldn't cut it in the league the first time around. Don't do it to yourselves.

we have to take the hit in January and sell.
The likes of Sancho, DVD and Martial need to be sold, throw in Casemiro too (at his age I am not expecting much more than 6 months of high level performances if that after the way he started the season).
Money has to go on a striker and another competent midfielder that will rotate/push Mainoo.
If Varane is sold then obviously a CB and if by some miracle another £30-£40 million offer comes in for MCT then please get a DM.
If and big IF we can maintain the gap to the top as it is now, buy well and sell in January, then we really should be moving upwards
