Couldnt watch the game but this is an interesting point. Bestie was onto something there i guess. Obvious argument against will be 'its just Palace'. Or it maybe that the midfield of Case and Amrabet is improving the overall play. I will need a bigger sample size to make any conclusion there ! ‘Couldn’t watch the game but…’ I’m sorry but this is ridiculous. We beat a weakened Palace and its vindication for a nonsensical argument to drop Bruno? This place sometimes. Bruno would've had a fucking field day with actual willing runners ahead of him last night

Bruno and Rashford are obviously very important individual players for us and matchwinners when on form. But maybe because we've over relied on them for so long other players have got in the habit of slacking off and hoping that Bruno and Rashford will conjure up something to win us the game and their absence allowed other players to shine with Mount and Garnacho very impressive last night. Also both are very effective on the counter because of Bruno's incisive passing and Rashford's pace and that is a tactic we historically have over relied upon.
Obviously small sample size and weakened opposition who probably didn't care that much about the game. But it was our best team performance of the season and we do need to focus on becoming a good team that is more resilient and less reliant on key players to win games. And with all the new signings over the past few years and youngsters coming through the challenge for Erik is getting the team to gel and find the right balance and make it clear that if you don't play for the team or show 100% commitment then you risk not being selected for the next game.

We got a run of matches that are all very winnable.... these last 2 matches should be building blocks of confidence to go on a little run. Players are starting to come back from injury and Sancho is still sulking about how he's being mistreated. Let's go boys

Seen it all over twitter today.
Played better without Rashford and Bruno.
Amrabat passed the ball more times in one game than McTominay has all season.
If we're using last night's game as a platform to base things on then we're in shit. This game is no reflection on those that missed out. Had they been playing the result would have been the same. Palace were utter dogshit and offered very little.
If rather focus on the good the youngster did than compare them to players that didn't even play.

ETH has got a nice problem Saturday, who doesn't deserve to keep their place?

Yeah but the McTominay thing, I can deal with that, and encourage it

Using last night performance as a measuring stick, should we start Martial as a centre forward from now on, rather than Rasmus?
No, I didn’t think so. Because that would be mental.

Palace were atrocious so would an unbalanced scale to use to determine who is a better option. The fact that people still can't grasp how important Bruno is for this team aswell is astounding.

Who knew a few key players back and starting and we improve. Yeah it was against a weaker Palace, but we were still without 4 starters including no squad LB and we threw on the bench and youngsters.
Once these players get some good game time and the LB injuries are passed we will be very hard to beat, with Amrabat and Casemiro in front of Varane etc. The worry I have is if we can really step up with goals, but I believe we can once the rest is stable.
I don't think we've been that bad attacking, but it's just we are on the back foot all the time with Casemiro isolated and the back four totally unsettled. You have Bruno running all over the place too, when that happens.

If he can maintain that level and play 30-40% of our games as Hojlund grows into it, then great. 30% or so starting some, but mostly coming on as a sub, keeps it fresh!

At least we can enjoy tonight’s games knowing we’re already through.

I would like to see Mount start on the right of a front 3 against Palace on Saturday. Rashford-Hojlund-Mount, in front of Amrabat and Casemiro. It might be for just a half or 60 mins, but can make the changes if Mount and Amrabat are not fully fit.

Me too thought he had a good 45,I'd like most from last night to be given the chance to keep their place. Irrespective of the oppo last night, that was a good team performance & it' been a while since we've played as a team. It's not like we don't have players that could do with being made to feel like they need to earn a starting spot.

Liked how easily Amrabat settled making easy passes nothing fancy and kept it simple, great considering he’s not match fit.
