Mount has been one of our better players since returning from injury and you cannot fault his professionalism or effort. Bruno as usual escapes criticism. People just remember the assists and the goals and excuse everything else.
Midfield I think we are OK but Erik needs to find the right balance. Casemiro and Eriksen were short term fixes. I don't think Casemiro will work as a number 6 this season. Opposition players are going past him too easily. Bizarrely he is also our top scorer. Perhaps with Amrabat or Mainoo in a deeper role alongside him he can focus on being a midfield general and we can benefit from his all round game even if he has lost a yard or two of pace.
Defence we are obviously screwed. Dalot and Lindelof have never been good enough. Martinez is out until the end of the year and has been a bit shaky this season. We could have got Pavard for £30m this summer which would have been affordable if we hadn't signed Onana or had managed to shift Scotty. Or signed a young centre back earlier in the summer such as Todilo.
But even with all the injuries playing Amrabat at left back is so bizarre you start to wonder if Erik is morphing into LVG. Evans can play left back and surely the whole point of bringing in Evans was for situations like this when we have a massive injury crisis. His positioning would have at least been a lot better than Amrabat and with his experience he would be able to read the game and anticipate things a lot better even if he doesn't have the pace he used to at his age.
Anyway it is up to Erik. He can keep digging his own hole and keep picking favourites and keep making excuses about injuries. Or he can lose the ego admit that things aren't working out this season and make changes.

I've said as much as well, we are going to get the results we deserve now that DDG is gone....our biggest mistake this transfer window was letting him walk. And again What is happening in that position is 1000% the managers fault.

The gaffs from Onana don’t worry me half as much as his inability to save some pretty basic attempts on goal. His reflexes look shocking.

Just on Onana, I may be alone but I am all for him. I have not forgotten the brilliance of DDG but I also have not forgotten the gaffs. We needed a progress keeper, sadly he has come in when Casemiro has lost his legs, Eriksen too. Martinez played injured, Shaw out, Malacia out. Onana has made some gaffs, massive ones but we simply will not see the best of the guy when there are so many issues in front of him. He has to do better, I believe he will, but he needs support from the manager and players. ETH can support by getting Amrabat next to Casemiro, just help Case out with an experienced midfielder that has legs and intelligence. That can provide us with better stability to support the defence and attack. IMO it's Mount or Bruno, we simply are not strong enough to play both at present so for now, rotate them, keep them fresh and hungry. Everyone from manager to plyers can and have to do better to get us out of this. There is no point looking to those above them because they are absolutely useless. They have to pull this together, the mentality has to be 'we have no one but ourselves, we do this for ourselves and the fans'. Anyone who is not in needs to be outted and banished to the reserves or elsewhere, this is serious serious stuff. Lastly, other than the fact I like fact, I would would not be advocating for him being sacked. The best 2 managers in the world and most capable to help us right now play for our biggest rivals so it's pointless. If he was at City he’d have players comfortable on the ball and in possession. Their goalkeepers are basically accessories. He probably wouldn’t be so nervous , instead he has donkeys ahead of him. DDG played with Maguire and Vic for over a year yet still saved us points. I'm not hating on Onana I just hate that the decision to not give him any real competition in the position. We could be using Dave right now to cool off Onana but we can't and that's what grinds my gears!

Switching between Onana and DDG sounds good, but in reality you would have to alter between completely different build-up plays. Which, in turn, would do nothing good for the evolution of the team in terms of getting comfortable playing the way the manager wants.

The other option would be going to a 5 at the back which I am really surpised we not seen him do tbh given the lack of a dedicated LB.

Ten Hag can start by playing Dalot at LB and Lindelof at RB so Amrabat can play in midfield, he isn't a LB and is wasted where we really need him atm.
Drop Rashford, Casemiro and Bruno and start Garnacho, Hannibal and Mount. He needs to start focusing on players performing and reward them for that and not seemingly focusing on his favourites. Those will get him the sack.
Willing to give Onana a bit more time to settle but the rope is getting shorter by the week. He really needs to pull his finger out.

I genuinely think Ten Hag is likely the best, most contemporarily relevant/up to date coach we've had at the club since SAF.
He needs proper ownership, and a corporate structure above him that allows him to simply coach the football team, manage the players and identify areas where we need to improve.
Sacking Ten Hag will solve nothing, in fact I think he'll be given the same time everyone else has (perhaps more) - i.e. if he fails to qualift for the CL then he might be in trouble.
Personally, I hope the club sticks it out and shows real faith in the manager, and that he gets to work under a proper club structure with new owners.
If he goes, I'm honestly not sure I can go through this predictable cycle of events again.

If Ronaldo’s form hadn’t dipped and he hadn’t gone in two footed on the rats he’d also still be here. It’s when it suits they move them on. I think the wages argument isn’t that simple tbh.

We now have Onana,Heaton & the other bloke on a very near combined wage of what Henderson was earning per week. Maguire is on £1 mil a month. We are losing £2mill a week.

I've had some time to sleep on this loss and I'm still fuming...
Our midfield looked like it was going to be the biggest concern when teams were running through it but now it's our defense and our GK is the biggest question mark.
Dalot gets done up on the first goal by Zaha which he should have done a lot better, it causes Onana to come out and basically get chipped by a soft touch.
Defense gets beat on a throw in for the 2nd starting with Amrabat who shouldn't be playing LB but because that position is a injury graveyard currently, we really have no choice.
Onana.... what the actual fuck is going on with this guy? Like seriously.... we bring him in to play the ball out from the back and he has done nothing but compromise us. His shit pass puts Casemiro in a position to have to make a decision to either allow a easy 1v1 in the box or do your damnedest to stop him. Red Carded, because of the guys that's suppose to be one of the better out of the back GK can't pass the ball to a actual teammate. Also, someone mentioned it but his reactions are freighting. Like school yard almost. IDK what's going on with him but ETH and GK Coach needs to figure that out like yesterday because we don't stand a chance even with a decent defense.
Hojlund showed what we've been missing in attack since RVP. 2 proper striker goals and 3rd that was rightfully called off was another beauty. Holds the balls up, surprisingly has tight ball control, pace, aggression, and strength. Rashford looked better picking his head up but there might be a confidence issue because he would have buried that chance he decided to poorly lay off the Bruno. Mount has turned into a different player since returning from injury and that shows he isn't mailing it in, respect. Garnacho came on with some hunger and would have tied it up if it was for that lunging block.
ETH is getting all the heat from this loss in the media. Everyone is questioning if he should be the coach anymore which angers me because this guy is trying to work a God size miracle with the Glazer Cunts trying to equally run this club into the 7th layer of hell. His buying of Onana is concerning and subs are questioning at times, but we get rid of him we set this club back another 5years easily.

Erik may be a good coach. But man management is a huge part of this role and he doesn’t seem to be able to motivate the players or get them to understand what he wants from them.
Also he may talk tough and be ruthless with players like Maguire, Ronaldo, Dave and Sancho. But we’ve got a lot of players underperforming and keeping their place in the team even though we do have more options on the bench this season.
The defensive crisis is unfortunate but any good coach should be able to organise a makeshift defence and playing amrabat as a left back is stupid and he’s been a massive weak link. As has been discussed on here we could have played Evans or dalot at left back we could have played five at the back. It isn’t as if we have been playing top tier opposition.
But under Erik we just look far too fragile and anytime we’re not at full strength I worry whether we’ll be able to get a result.
