Hearing that we are being linked to Thiago Motta of Bolgna who are doing really well… Apparently plays 2-7-2!!!! Motta isn't a bad shout at all. The 2-7-2 isn't horizontally aligned though, it's to be looked at vertically. He seems to be playing very good football with his system. As an ex-player and a winner, he would manage to garner respect from some of the primadonnas as well.

I'd be OK with it. He managed to get a midtable club into top 4 in his 2nd season without spending a fortune on players and achieved a discernible improvement in their style of play. That is probably exactly the kind of manager we need.
That certainly is better than Erik's record of spending over £400m to bounce in and out of top 4 while playing some of the worst football we've ever seen at the club.
Definitely an advantage that he's played for the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan, and PSG and midfielders tend to make good managers because they have a very good understanding of the game.
And he is probably attainable. So he could well be the best realistic option available at this time.

Apparently SJR is leaning towards someone like Conte or Tuchel figuring their experience will be useful to us as we transition under INEOS. Presumably the idea then is a few years later once our recruitment setup has improved and we've upgraded the squad we will be in better shape for a modern progressive manager to take over. Any manager who takes over the current squad and expects them to play from the back and press and keep possession is going to be very disappointed. makes zero sense. why spend time, money and energy on squad / system to play for a Conte / Tuchel then have to rebuild for a complete different type of manager. the club needs to figure out what it wants, quickly, then buy players and a manager to suit. they need to stop buying players for certain managers because it ends exactly like it is now - disjointed from top to bottom with square pegs in round holes

With Motta or any other manager they have to be able to communicate clearly and effectively. If language barrier is there then with our players there might be an issue unless the old guard are cleared out and we leave youngsters that are hungry

He's played in Brazil, Spain, Italy and France. He seems to be someone who really wouldn't let language be an obstacle in his path.

Yeah I don't think that should rule him out. We have plenty of players in the squad who speak at least one of Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, all of which Motta speaks, so he will be able to get his message across while he brushes up his English. And the vocabulary required to give basic instructions during a game is fairly limited so a crash course over the summer should suffice.
The only first team players we have who only speak English are Maguire, Scotty, Shaw, AWB, Rashford, Mainoo. And of those only Mainoo and Shaw should be starting regularly.

The issue is not Motta I think any players who are going to be a problem for a new manager will have to deal with vastly more demanding, authoritative and experienced professionals like Ashworth and Brailesford. I'm not fussed about players posing a problem looking at the way current management is being overhauled and the caliber of the replacements brought in.

Motta would be my choice of the realistic candidates for the reasons mentioned.
But if INEOS do decide they want someone more experienced with Premier League experience to smooth the transition under INEOS Tuchel is worth some serious consideration. Tactically he is far superior to Erik and it wouldn't surprise me if he won the Champions League with Bayern this year. He also prefers to have little to do with recruitment (which caused major tensions with Boehly) so he wouldn't get in the way of Ashworth/Wilcox. So he could be a safe pair of hands that can keep us competitive while Ashworth/Wilcox clear out the deadwood and refresh the team so we have a squad that can challenge.

Nagelsmann has just re-upped with Germany for after the Euros, so scratch him off.

And I'd prefer to sleep with Margot Robbie. Hasn't he fucked us off in the past? I was also under this impression. He was right to tell Woodward, Murtough and co to fuck off tbf. Ineos, brailesford and Ratcliffe are a much more professional outfit. I hope they at least talk to him.

Some of the videos from the region have been insane with the weather.
