This argument doesn't hold water considering Bayern have been a complete clusterfuck over the past 2 years. This is not the same Bayern who we considered impeccably run. This is Bayern entering their United era. They are a mess but the fact they believe in Upmancano and Dier more than De ligt is just baffling. The only thing that gives me some hope with de ligt coming from Bayern is that he did well at Juve injuries aside and Bayern have not done a job with Kim who was outstanding in Italy. Tbh I'm not baffled. They removed Nagelsmann mid-season which was sus in itself. I believe de Ligt and Mazraoui for 55-60 is excellent value.

Mazraoui missed 19 games in 2023/24, 12 in 2022/23, 9 in 2021/22 and 31 in 2020/21. I have no idea why we are intending to waste £15-£20m on him.
I'd rather we sell AWB to raise funds (given he has a year left on his deal). See if we can get £15m. And use that £15m to increase our bids for Ugarte and De Ligt and land both of them.
We'd be left a little short in the full back positions. But the spine of the team would be pretty bullet-proof. Dalot is rarely injured. Yoro can cover right back and it will allow us to give him more games as he will not be first choice centre back when De Ligt and Martinez are fit. Vic can also play at RB. Shaw will start the season fit and if he does get injured hopefully at that point Amass will be ready to step up. Or Malacia will return from the dead.
Then next summer we can address the full back positions and the winger positions depending on the performance and fitness of the various players we have in our current squad and who is available next summer.

YIKES. I did not know that. No use of having a better player than AWB if he won't ever be able to play. I'm still firm on de Ligt though.

My understanding is the largest chuck was World Cup injury but his record isn't great period with all the injury problems we've had

Quite frankly if they ever in a mad world accepted that bid from us, he would need to take a 400k pay cut.

What I like is the fact the fans had a massive petition for him to stay and are pissed off he is being sold. The fans always know best! Imagine our fans having a protest and organised petition for selling Antony, Casemiro or Maguire It doesn't mean we are going to get it done, but for me this should have been done a month ago and moved on to midfield!

He is nowhere worth that kind of money, I for one would be going mad if that guy is on over £200k. I am all for getting good players in but it has to make sense. We bring him in and we are playing 433. He is not a 6 as much as he likes to receive the ball from the defenders he just is not a 6 and that's the primary type midfielder we need. If we go 433 we are likely going to waste Bruno on the right, FDJ could cause more issues than he resolves. Personally a DM and Rabiot on a free would suit me nicely, we maintain the pivot, Bruno can push up into the 10 role properly where he is at his most devastating best. One thing i can imagine is that if it were down to ETH, FDJ would come in and be the highest paid player

If we’d taken a poll in here at the start of the summer on our most pressing need, I’d say 90% of people would have said CM. Probably but it doesn't negate the fact that people will still complain about the other areas that have not been addressed. Whichever way it's buttered we are where we are and there is time to get more in and out People complaining isn’t really here nor there when it comes to this situation. The harsh reality is, we have 3 pressing issues coming into the summer but by far and away the biggest was CM. As of today, we haven’t fixed it and have prioritised the other 2, leaving us in a situation whereby we need to sell players who very few clubs want to buy, in order to sort our biggest need. Whatever way you want to paint it, it’s a flawed strategy, particularly as the season is starting in 3 days. It’s like spending a lot of money on a new bathroom, new bedroom and then moaning about the fact they get destroyed because you neglected to fix the roof.

We didn't prioritise, we got the deals done that we could get done, that is reality. the analogy is senseless. And people complaining is plenty here and there. The club is damned either way when in reality people just need to be patient.

The club is damned either way when in reality people just need to be patient. We paid 50 million for Yoro (who I know is a fantastic player) which is almost exactly the fee PSG wanted for Ugarte. So we decided to buy a CB before addressing the biggest flaw in the squad. That is the reality. No one on here is damning the club. People appreciate that years of appalling decisions have hamstrung INEOS and they are left with an unenviable task of shifting poor players on ridiculous wages. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t question the strategy up to this point, which currently looks flawed to say the least.

Anyway-
Finally some decent links to Ederson from Atalanta. Now he would fix more or less all our midfield issues.
