The deal that is bad is bringing a shit sterling to the club Sadly, he is better than Sancho, Rashford, and Antony. Seems unlikely this will happen in any event. And if it does happen, I'm confident we wouldn't do anything financially stupid. That you, Troy?

More worrying news i am reading is that ETH don't really want Ugarte and it's a buy being pushed by Wilcox and co.
if there is any truth in it I am concerned, ETH is stubborn to a fault and if he is not onboard will just ruin things. I really hope it's garbage and he actually sees the complete sense and gift he is being given

Its hugely debatable to say he's better than what we have. I don't know a single Chelsea supporter who wants Sterling to remain. They really can't believe we're interested in him. I'd rather wait for the right player, than sign someone because we have no serious alternatives. We need goals in the team, last time I checked, Sterling doesn't score them.

I cannot believe anybody can take Troy Deeney seriously.

With how continually poor Rashford is and the negative impact given by having an unhappy player around the squad like Sancho, I honestly don’t think Sterling makes the squad any worse.
That being said, signing an aging player because they’re not worse than some of the guys we have would be a huge backwards step for the owners.

Signing Sterling has Glazer/woodward written all over it.
Let’s just hope it’s briefing to get Juve to step up.

If it was just someone to fill out the squad, I’d be less concerned. Good professional, better attitude than some at the club, has won trophies. On some sort of performance incentive contract, maybe. But he’s only 29. There’s no way he’s coming here on a pay-as-you-play.
I was never a massive fan of his as a player. Thought he was exciting at Liverpool, then Pep sort of did that thing he does where he makes an exciting player really dull but more consistent. Think there’s a bit of the Rooney’s about Sterling where he’s played too much football at a young age and he’s now burnt out when he should be in his peak.
Anyway, we’ll be daft if we’re looking at him and thinking we know something that Pep, Poch etc don’t.

Apparently Dan Ashworth has made it clear that any deal involving Sterling will be on our terms. So I imagine we would only do it if we got some cash as well and Sterling agreed to a pay cut and agrees to a 3 year rather than a 5 year deal.
But assuming we can strike a good deal with Chelsea and get him on reasonable wages I think it makes a lot of sense.
People talk about his age. But he is a few months younger than Bruno and we just gave Bruno a fat new contract! And with over 200 Premier League goal contributions and lots of big club and big game experience I think he'd be a valuable addition and can provide competition and cover on both wings. And as people mentioned he's much much better than Antony and has a much better attitude than Rashford and Sancho.
It isn't the same as the Woodward/Glazer habit of buying players in their early 30s with injury problems. Especially if we use him as a squad rotation player I think we could get 3 good years out of him. And we do not have the funds this summer to buy a winger and before we do so we need to see how Amad develops and what his ceiling is.
As for Erik he hasn't demonstrated good judgement in the transfer market and he should consider himself lucky that INEOS were on board with signing De Ligt, Mazraoui and Zirzkee. Ugarte is clearly needed in the same way Casemiro was in Erik's first season. Next season if we can ditch Mount then we can think of signing a midfielder with a different profile such as Zubimendi or Hjulmand.

More worrying news i am reading is that ETH don't really want Ugarte and it's a buy being pushed by Wilcox and co.
if there is any truth in it I am concerned, ETH is stubborn to a fault and if he is not onboard will just ruin things. I really hope it's garbage and he actually sees the complete sense and gift he is being given Personally i think ETH knows he's a dead man walking and the only excuse for another shit season after spending 600m is "these players where forced on me".

I don't like how Sterling runs like a T-Rex. On that basis, avoid.
