Supposedly held talks with Toney about a cut-price deal... would not mind that at all.

Glad we're signing a midfielder even though we need 2 but we can't have everything in one go i suppose and whilst i'm happy with the Ugarte signing as he looks like he's got something we're really missing but can't help feeling i should be more excited than i am about the window we've had and this i think boils down to the fact i've lost faith in Erik doing anything meaningful with these players in terms of setup and style of play. Hoping to shit he proves me wrong but it's hard to see going by the first coupe of games

100%. If we want to progress as a club we need to start implementing a SYSTEM where players are interchangeable (reducing vulnerability to injuries and dips in form of key players) and this system can flow down to the youth setup so that when youngsters graduate to the first team they already know the way we want to play and have developed the right skillset to play it.
We have a fairly balanced squad now even if we lack quality/depth in some areas. So no excuses for Erik now. Although I fully expect him to keep moaning about injuries and refereeing decisions and gaslight us by claiming that we played well but just fell short during "key moments". Won't work with INEOS though and the pressure is on.
I also am not so worried about the Southgate rumours. If they get fed up of Erik I am sure they will promote Ruud as an interim and then interview managers so that they make a permanent choice for next summer. Nothing INEOS have done so far has led me to believe they would ever consider appointing someone so obviously unqualified for the job as Southgate even as a caretaker manager.

If the price were fair for Toney then that works; but I can't see Brentford selling him cheap even with one year left on his deal.
We'd also need to make sure his contract isn't too long. He shouldn't be here longer than two years, and the second year as a backup.

Saudis are offering him £400k a week. So even if he prefers to stay in the Premier League and play for a big club I imagine he will want at least £300k and at least a 3 year deal. That cost can be partly offset by a cut price transfer fee (and Brentford know if they don't sell him this summer he will leave on a free next summer) but it might ruffle a few feathers.
Only way I can see it happening is if Chelsea manage to sell Sterling to another European club, use the proceeds to buy Sancho, and that then frees up some rule on our wage bill to offer Toney an attractive salary and Brentford only ask for about £30m.
But I wouldn't say no. Zirzkee is an interesting prospect but he isn't a proven goal-scorer and is more of a number 10. Hojlund is injured and had to bear a very big burden last season. Toney could also play on the left in a similar role to Rashford in Erik's first season and we might then be able to shift Rashford next summer. And goals have been a huge problem as over the last 3 seasons we've averaged only 58 Premier League goals a season which is absolutely pathetic.

More worrying news i am reading is that ETH don't really want Ugarte and it's a buy being pushed by Wilcox and co. if there is any truth in it I am concerned, ETH is stubborn to a fault and if he is not onboard will just ruin things. I really hope it's garbage and he actually sees the complete sense and gift he is being given Loads of garbage out there, anything about us gets the clicks!

Erik can have absolutely no complaints. Since he joined the club we've spent around £600m. He's a good cup manager and the two trophies are much appreciated. But anything less than a top 4 finish should get him the sack. And if we are far adrift of top 4 by December I would just appoint Ruud as interim manager and start interviewing candidates for the permanent role.

We’ve spent north of 100 million on two of the best young strikers in Europe. We should probably figure out how to get them service rather than clog up the position with an English striker of middling quality.

I'd agree with this. And that is why I think a Sterling + cash swap for Sancho could be a very shrewd deal. All is clearly still not well between Erik and Sancho. Sancho was left out of the last 2 matchday squads (and don't say it is because we are exploring a sale because Scotty featured in both games). Erik made some comments recently about players having to deal with it if they aren't picked and having to wait for their chances which Sancho will have probably rightly felt are aimed at him and Sancho has reportedly told club bosses he wants to leave. And I would rather get Sterling + cash than have to subsidize a loan to Juventus in the hope he plays well enough to attract a bid next summer or even worse just rot on the bench and stir discontent within the squad. We've averaged only 58 goals over the last three seasons in the Premier League. We've bought two young strikers. Hojlund has fantastic shot conversion stats but got little service last season. Zirzkee isn't a prolific and clinical goal scorer yet (although he will contribute to the build up with his link up play) so we need to make sure we create enough chances for him that he can put a few away. Amad and Garnacho have great potential but are still inconsistent and inexperienced. So there would be a definite benefit from having a steady if unspectacular winger like Sterling who can play on both flanks and chip in with goals and assists and bring some experience and seniority to our squad. And then next summer we can figure out whether we need to sign another winger or another striker or a midfield playmaker or maybe all three. Although I have a sneaking suspicion the most important decision next summer is who they appoint to replace Erik because I think he's probably taken us as far as he can with the 2 domestic cup trophies. Although would be nice to add the Europa to complete the collection before we say our goodbyes to him. We’ve spent north of 100 million on two of the best young strikers in Europe. We should probably figure out how to get them service rather than clog up the position with an English striker of middling quality.

I don't like how Sterling runs like a T-Rex. On that basis, avoid. This hasn't been brought up enough.... I dont want to see his goofy ass t rex runs into the box then diving all over the place

Hojlund was thrown in the deep end and is suffering injuries because of it. hes young and had to be slowly integrated but because martial was a waste of space he had no option. hope he can find fitness and stay in shape as i think he could be brilliant, but theres a lot of ifs and buts. zirkzee needs to get up to speed quickly. another forward wouldnt bother me as the club has always had a depth of decent CFs its only in recent history its not happened.
