I reckon Leny Yoro is a better bet than Branthwaite… Right footed and cheaper but probably at least as good if not better… possibly - but if madrid are calling him theres no point in even trying. craic on with realistic targets

Can someone explain to me why we need to pay that for a 20 year old left footed, left sided center back? 90% of the time he is on the left in all those videos and he clearly favors his left foot. Obviously they know this, but aren't we looking for a replacement for Varane and Maguire and a partner for Martinez. Unless the intention is to buy two center backs and have one that can play in case Martinez is injured. I’m not sure this matters. Only the Dutch loons seem to care about it. I’d bet the vast majority of CB partnership in world football are two right footers and no one bats an eyelid. Shouldn’t be any different if there are two left footers back there.

Apart from the fact that Branthwaite is massively over hyped anyway and those clips don't highlight his errors or weakness. If he was really that good and with Ben White and Maguire out you would think England and Steve Clark a well regarded defensive coach would want him in the squad. If we're talking about Toney and Branthwaite for most of the budget before sales, what's the point of all these people running the football club and recruitment. It doesn't sound very ambitious to me and if Antonio Silva can be bought for the same amount then that should be where we go! Here's an alternative view for what it's worth. I think all these YouTube clips are meh, but at least this highlights the other side. Getting picked for England isn’t always the best judge of a player’s worth. Conor fucking Gallagher is going to start over Mainoo most likely and I doubt even his mum thinks that’s on merit or talent.

They need the money, city arsenal Chelsea don't need a CB so we should have a free run, so hopefully we actually do it for a sensible fee, this will be the test for the new team, let's see if we fold and just pay up or negotiate properly or walk away if it's not in our best interests.

If Branthwaite is going to cost 60m or more I think I’d rather take De Ligt for 40m (supposedly quoted price). He hasn’t reached the heights many have thought he would but he is a good defender and has a lot of leadership/ character. Although I haven’t really paid attention to the former much.
