We should be doing a loan deal with an option if we are in for de Ligt. He literally can't get in any team, International or Club currently under several managers and is regularly injured. 50M Euro plus bonus payments and 250kPW. Just get a loan deal done and make it permanent if he works out. We can still get the Todibo deal done and we need a very good LB He isn't that bad. Tuchel was on one too. I do agree though that with him I'd prefer loan with option to buy. I have some concerns with him not to mention, DVB, Antony haven't exactly lit up the place so apprehensive on this one. It's a shame that the price for Branwaithe is simply stupid

I want to get excited by De Ligt, but don't understand why he is being let go... it makes me pause for thought. Combine that with actually rarely being impressed by him when I've seen him (which admittedly is only ~10 games) and I am just a bit uneasy about the deal.
I'll support him if he signs of course, but I'd probably be more excited with an up and comer rather than someone two top clubs have been willing to let go (personally would love Antonio Silva from Benfica).

Did the unthinkable and tuned in to USA v Uruguay to try and get a feel for Ugarte, the tv angle is so damn high and far from the players I can’t even tell who’s who.

Look at Diogo Costa last night, what a keeper. he should have been the signing for keeper! Van Dijk previously - went with lindelof. all becuase they overspent on shit players they lose out on the gems they should actually sign

I think you need to be sensible.
Our budget this summer is probably only about £150m. So we have roughly £50m to spare for each of the priority positions (CB, CM, CF).
In previous windows we'd have let Everton rip us off and paid £70-£80m for Branthwaite. And then run out of money later in the window and ended up doing one of our infamous loan moves or signed someone in their 30s with very little left in the tank. And by overpaying for Branthwaite we'd have encouraged other clubs to rip us off in the current and future transfer windows.
I can understand the reservations when it comes to De Ligt. But if we get him for around £40m then you can hardly call that overpaying for a shit player. He didn't hit the heights expected of him after leaving Ajax. But he is still a good defender. And only 24 years old so can get a lot better.

This guy Christopher Vivell has been added too, on a temporary basis, to help with recruitment and contract negotiations!
"Vivell's track record to date is impressive. He headed the work in scouting, coordination, and squad planning in the much revered Red Bull success stories Salzburg and Leipzig. Before that he impressed in roles at Hoffenheim, where he worked with Julian Nagelsmann. And then there's his brief period at Chelsea".
I wouldn't expect miracles in the first window, but this is all pretty exciting medium to longer term. It's all about contacts and networks and relationships. Jean Claude Blanc is there too and they have a good relationship with PSG, so there may be interesting things happening there both ways!

I wonder if PSG would be interested in Sancho even on a loan deal or swap with Ugarte. I think he would suit PSG and they obviously noticed him in the semis of the CL. He basically ripped them apart in that first leg, should have had 3 assists but for poor finishing!
Bit hopeful, but who knows!

If the numbers for De ligt are right (£34 million) and he is taking a paycut then It's not a bad deal. I do worry about his pace though, Martinez is decent on pace but I think one of the CB's having pace is a useful asset. TBF De Ligt reads the game well so that might somewhat compensate to a degree on the lack of pace.
The numbers though are very respectable. If we can sell Maguire and Lindelof and then add another CB that would be superb
De ligt Martinez Kambwala Another CB
that's a respectable quintet to choose from.

34 mill pounds for De Ligt is excellent when you consider it’s cheaper than Elliot Anderson.

The fact they are trying to get deals done early and not being bent over backwards on the fee is what I wanted to see with this new ownership. A lot more work to do but I am really impressed with how they are operating.
We can debate on if the player is good enough or will stay healthy enough, but we won't truly know until they step on the pitch. I believe De Ligt is good enough and plays in the style we are trying to go for, but I have concerns on if he can stay healthy enough.

Apparently we are looking at Miguel Gutierrez who RM are getting back from Girona and selling on to us…
Good profit for RM as they will only pay about 8m euros and we will pay up to 40m…
Left back replacement…

I have a feeling De Ligt will fit like a glove next to Licha, looks to have the right type of character to play for United too.

Happy with de ligt for 40m especially if it means we don't give Everton 70m.
