This is a good write up. 2 goals and 9 assists in 40 appearances is a very impressive return. Only 22 years old so could get a lot better. And Shaw was badly missed last season and his absence contributed to Rashford's poor form.

De Ligt, Gutierrez, Ugarte and Zirzkee for a combined total of around £150m would be an incredible first summer especially considering our budgetary constraints.

People are right to ask questions about de Ligt, but if they get him for what I would guess is 35+8 in add ons that are reasonable and skewed to appearances etc, then it is worth it. They don't want him for whatever reason, he hasn't worked or they need to cut costs, which is surprising! Both Juve and Bayern especially Juve really overpaid for him, but he has had to deal with too many CB partners and too many coaches at both Juve and Bayern as well as some injuries. He hasn't quite lived up to the hype, but he is still young and can still become world class in the true sense. There is no doubt there are question marks and his salary is very high, so there aren't really many takers and probably nobody else in reality!

This whole 80-90M for centre backs especially young ones is just nonsense. That season we were in for de Ligt and we ended up paying that for Maguire, neither of these players are bad or great, just massively over valued.

The Zirzkee deal is also held up by Jia Joorabchin apparentley asking for a fee of 12M so the total fee could be 46M+ and that's a straight outlay. That one isn't a no brainer either and wages are also an issue.

That does worry me a little. Our medical team hasn't been revamped the way it should have been and wouldn't trust them to do a proper medical and evaluate the situation correctly or manage it correctly. So would be concerned about signing something with a chronic recurring injury condition that needs managing and might result in him missing 10-15 games every season.

After all we released Varane precisely because he wasn't available enough and it remains to be seen if Martinez can stay fit the whole season.

While it seems like a lot it mostly been little knocks here and there not these long layoffs that every player here has. Hell Phil Jones and Martial made entire careers here out of being injured. Malacia and Shaw are well on their to it as well.
