In 4 years, his value has decreased almost 80 times less than what we initially paid for him (€39m) .. FML

Anyone thinking just getting rid of DVB permanently is not a win need a their head checked. He has been poor with us and on the loan moves elsewhere.
The deal is nicely structured. Out the door for peanuts, if he does well we get more and if he revives his career and is sold for big money, we get paid. Goodbye. All the best

If Zirkzee can’t get a start in this Netherlands side, we need to consider his suitability.

Doesn't mean much. Probably says more about the Netherlands boss that he is sticking with Depay and Weghorst as a Plan Z. And there is an unfortunate tendency in international football to favour players with more international caps which makes it hard for new players to break into the team. I like a lot of the things I am hearing about Zirzkee. He's drawn comparisons to Zlatan (tall centre forward with great technique) and Griezmann (creative, great link up play). And would definitely offer us something different in attack and only £34m so fits within our budget. If Zirkzee can’t get a start in this Netherlands side, we need to consider his suitability.

As for Donny what did anyone expect? We did amazingly well to find a buyer. Alternative would have been to keep paying his wages while he rots in reserves or struggled to sort out another loan move in which we'd have to fund most of his wages or even worse give him some kind of payoff to rip up his contract. We've got him off our payroll and if he can do moderately well for him we've got add-ons that could amount to about £5m. That isn't so bad for a player who's not only failed for us but also failed at Everton and Frankfurt and is now 27 years old so hard to claim he has any kind of potential left in him.
What is pretty apparent by now is that Erik's tactics for Ajax worked so well that they made mediocre, limited and mentally weak players like Antony and Donny look half decent.

think not signing Gakpo was a mistake especially for the price he cost.

Agreed. Should have been the obvious alternative when Ajax demanded crazy money for Antony (who our scouts valued at only £25m). think not signing Gakpo was a mistake especially for the price he cost.

If Zirkzee can’t get a start in this Netherlands side, we need to consider his suitability. I don’t watch football as much as I used to so I don’t know anything about him. browsing over socials and other forms most seem a bit underwhelmed. how good is he?

Gapko has been largely useless for the Scousers, lest we forget.

Apparently he went full Bryan Robson last night. Tackled everything that moved.

Gapko has been largely useless for the Scousers, lest we forget. just got far better players to compete with to start. for a second striker / squad player he would have been far better than the options we spent over double on.
