Why not be a big club and sign both Yoro and De Ligt?

If Yoro wants Real Madrid so badly all he has to do is reject us. Then Lille will be forced to sell him on the cheap to Real Madrid this summer or risk losing him on a free next summer.
But he may take a long view and realize that he'd have better development opportunities with us especially with Erik as his coach. And that is probably the pitch we are trying to make. He might also want to do the decent thing by Lille and allow them to get a good transfer fee for him and might be unimpressed by Real Madrid's unwillingness to match our offer.
Yes we want to avoid a Di Maria or Pogba situation. But if it ends up being a Ronaldo or Haaland situation I am fine with that.
And it isn't as if we are putting all our baskets in Yoro. We've agreed terms with Branthwaite and De Ligt and while we haven't agreed a fee with either club we can move either deal forward if Yoro rejects us.
We are also being financially responsible. We want to avoid another overspend. So we are exploring multiple deals and cautiously raising our offers and also making progress on player sales. We cleared some space in our squad by shifting Donny. We are close to selling Greenwood. We are reportedly open to offers of more than £40m for Scotty. We are probably still trying to sell Casemiro and Sancho but open to keeping them if we cannot get a decent offer. Eriksen you'd imagine would get sold.
I am just incredibly impressed by how sensibly we are going about our business this summer. So I do not think there is any real reason to panic at this stage.

PSG close to Neves apparently. You'd think this would help get Ugarte over the line quick if true.
On Yoro, he can go to Real in 4 or 5 years time. If we have the chance to get a few seasons out of him rather than none, then a few is better. Signing Ronaldo when he always wanted to go to Real at some point didn't work out too badly or make us look small time.

Give me 4 or 5 seasons of the emotions Ronaldo gave me any day!

Providing he's not being a mercenary and demanding stupid money to join I have no issue signing a player whose dream is to play for another club. I know we've been scarred a couple of times but the truth is, we'd have signed tonnes of players who grew up fans of other clubs in the past, who then went on to have long, successful careers with us.
It's all about where we are as a club. It's much easier to persuade a player to stay if we're back contending for and winning league titles and looking a real threat in the Champions League. There's few places in the world better to play when things are going well.

Yoro is a young man and I’m sure Real’s pitch would have been mind blowing. But he risks a year playing and getting a career ending injury and then the Madrid plan falls apart. He could join this club and pretty much set himself for life, with still time to go to Spain. I don’t blame him wanting to play there.
United could sell him for profit or at least not lose anything on the deal.

I hope we don't wait around too long for yoro to decide, we could then potentially miss out on de ligt if he thinks we are pissing him about and then we end up spunking 80m to everton, it just seems like we have been here so many times. This. This could turn into a Woodward transfer window waiting too long and we are back to looking like clowns again. 😅

If we can get Yoro done I still think we'll push for Branthwaite again, and if we do and it happens, that's CB sorted for the foreseeable.
Ugarte would be good, but we'll still be lacking real quality/depth in the midfield, so we need to be rid of McTominay/Casemiro/Erikson and bring in another. As good as Collyer looks/is thought of, I don't think he'll be breaking through next season.

The fact we're looking at a player Real want and looks like we'll get him already for a decent price aswell speaks volumes to how better this club is being run in such a short space of time. Slap a huge release clause on the lad and if they want him down the line make them pay.
It's early days but clearly seems like things are changing for the better on the footballing side. Just need to hope those snakes on the business side vanish into thin air.

I'm not sold on Branthwaite at all so far, not seeing anything special there, especially for the price.

Ive Never seen Yoro play , but for the money he's coming for i assume he's going straight into the starting line-up.
