Contract doesn't expire until summer 2028. If Ed was still running the show then yeah it would be a possibility but no way under INEOS. So he's probably just pissed because we're stuck midtable and he's still in and out of the team under Erik. Admittedly that is partly on him. But we are such a chaotic mess under Erik that it is going to be hard for players like Mainoo and Garnacho to progress and reach their full potential and both are showing signs of regressing this season. Mainoo is still very young and needs to be playing with better players to kick on. If Garnacho is serious about being a top player, he'd be looking out of utd. Don't mean to shit on my own club but a young Rooney or Ronaldo would never stay here, no chance.

The main problem with the international break is the endless stream of bullshit journalists pump out to get clicks, like this Garnacho "story".

Started the season well Garnacho in the initial weeks, scored a few goals and had an unlucky one ruled out (plus one of the misses of the season). I don’t even know why he’s being rotated, he’s already better than all of the other options on both wings.

Agree. All of us wanted to see more of Amad but he's two years older than Garnacho and nowhere near as good. He's also admitted to playing through the knee injury which has ruled him out of the international break so could have been a factor as well.
Unfortunately Erik seems to have developed a mania for rotation. It is quite ironic really because last season his excuse was that forced rotation as a result of injuries was the reason for our poor form.

He might have a couple of moments in the game where he gets the ball, but other than that he’s invisible. Garnacho playing well or not is always an outlet because he wants the ball and will always try to beat a man. Nothing makes sense at the moment. Eriksen couldn’t get a game last year and he’s starting every bloody game this. The gaffer is pretty much just flinging shit at the wall I think at this stage.

Smart thing to do would be to use Amad as an impact sub and give him some starts in the domestic cups and Europa League games. Garnacho and Rashford should be starting most games and that should allow them both to build some form.
I have no idea why Ugarte isn't starting every game. He's our only natural number 6. Mainoo can't play that role. Casemiro is past it and these days better higher up the pitch where he can at least occasionally pick out a pass or chip in a goal. With Ugarte as our number 6 you can even get away occasionally with playing Eriksen or Casemiro ahead of him. But ludicrous to play Eriksen and Casemiro together as though it was 2022.
I also have no idea why Erik hasn't got Dalot and Mazraoui to swap flanks. It seems a logical step to take when Dalot is getting destroyed every game.
But yeah I think that Erik is losing his senses and probably sees the writing on the wall. The defiance he showed in the summer when his job was on the line seems to have deserted him. Now he just makes the same excuses for our poor results and weird rationalizations for his baffling decisions. And then repeats the mantra I have faith in my players and trust the process and we are in transition blah blah blah.
It is basically loser talk. He doesn't get the club. If he did he would understand that 8th place last season and being in the bottom half of the table this season is completely unacceptable and drastic measures are required to turn things around.
Also frustrating is that he clearly isn't listening to the coaches around him. There was some footage on the Sun website of Erik and Ruud having a heated discussion and Erik clearly dismissing what Ruud was trying to say. Although probably doesn't help their relationship that Erik probably knows that Ruud is a potential short term replacement for him. But Erik should really put his ego to one side and listen to input from his coaches because what he's doing isn't working. A back to basics approach would probably do us some good. I just get the feeling the players just completely overwhelmed by all the tactical instructions.

Garnacho should be the first forward on the team sheet. His final ball/shot isn’t yet consistent but he’s a constant threat and doesn’t stop for the entire time he’s on the pitch. You rarely see his head go down like Rashford, if he fucks a big chance he’ll just take the ball and try again.
I wouldn’t blame him for getting a little fed up at this club currently. Still think he’s a huge talent that will thrive at a proper club.

Aye, the Garnacho revisionism at the moment, is perculiar.

Turns out someone bugged our dressing room at Villa, hope it gets leaked and we get to hear what Erik's teamtalks are like!
