Amorim was asked today about taking the United opening and he said
“I was expecting that question and obviously I’m not going to talk about the future, because otherwise I’ll always have to comment, so it’s not worth it.”
“I won’t comment.”
“I’m very proud to be the coach of Sporting, that’s all.”

Good thing is that even if INEOS decide they want to take a few months to interview both immediately available candidates and managers who might be interested in taking over this summer then at least we won't have to put up with Erik every week.
I feel a bit sorry for Ruud. Erik has left an absolute mess behind him. But a back to basics and common sense approach would probably improve results somewhat. I think a return to 4-2-3-1 might do us some good with Ugarte alongside Mainoo or Casemiro in a double pivot and Bruno as a number 10 where he can score more goals and Rashford and Garnacho either side of Hojlund.

Apparently we are in talks to appoint amorim Talks that he's accepted the offer too now I just don’t love it if I’m honest. Very green manager and this is a huge step up similar to Ten Hag coming from Ajax.

As shit as we are it’s been wall to wall coverage about us on SSN all day. We’re still box office.

If this is true, then the one thing about Ineos is they don't fuck about. They lock in and get a deal done.

Top of the league in Portugal, 6 points clear and a goal difference of +28. Only Portugal I know, but ahead of Porto and Benfica. Was favourite for the City job and Liverpool were linked before they got Slot. I'm game.

Presumably as Amorim has a release clause we could just pay the £8m and he could start straight away?
I agree with smithy2. Same risk we faced with Erik as to whether he can make the step up to a big club and to a major league like the Premier League where there are no easy games.
Xavi would be my choice simply because managing Barcelona especially the state they are in is probably great preparation for the Manchester United job.

Wow, this would be pretty efficient by Ineos.
Based on the same principles that underlined our approach for Ten Hag, I like Amorim.

It's fast and decisive that's a huge plus from ineos, huge step up for him but we need to see something in the first few months from who ever comes in, we need to see an identity on the pitch, that is all I'm arsed about short term tbh

Anyway to keep Ruud around in all of this or am I being too nostalgic?
