He is running for the presidency in this Sunday's election, with former world rallying champion Carlos Sainz as his vice-presidential candidate. Villar Mir faces competition for the presidency from former president Lorenzo Sanz, along with three others. And as the battle for the 65,000 votes hots up, Sanz claimed on Tuesday he has agreed a deal with Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti to take Adriano to the Bernabeu if his bid for control is successful. Villar Mir has previously said he had spoken to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger about taking over as Madrid coach. And if he has set about trying to lure Portuguese winger Ronaldo it mirrors the way Florentino Perez won the club election in 2000, on the promise of signing Ronaldo's international team-mate Luis Figo from Madrid's bitter rivals Barcelona. So thats Ronaldo, Wenger and Adriano The only truth I would read from the article is that Ronaldo is under contract until 2010

Man United wont let Ronaldo leave the easily and if they were to a hefty transfer fee would be demanded

He isn't leaving. Over the past 6 months he has clearly said his future is at United, and backed up his words by signing a new contract.
Real Madrid are always at it during presidential elections. Adriano, Fabregas & C.Ronaldo are the pawns in the game for these president wannabes!

Or when there's a freekick, for him just to walk in the opposite direction as quickly as possible.....

I can understand your annoyance at his final ball but it has got better, and I can recall of the top of me head the cross to Fletcher for the goal against the Chavs and he clearly has improved as a team player over the 3 seasons he's been here. I do believe he will become one of the best in the business and I certainly don't want to see him leave. He isn't leaving. I don't think he's anything more than a pawn in the preidential election BUT..... I don't want him if he wants to go. What I do want to see at OT is a TEAM. I don't want to hear about Keano slagging off everyone; or Ronny and Ruud swapping handbags. I think this malaise can be laid very firmly at Rio's door; first with the drugs cock-up and then with the contract delay. And Ronny didn't exactly put pen to paper at the speed of light. I don't think the guy IS happy here. His body language is all wrong, and contract or not, if he can't be part of a team -sod off. He's got better but his abilities are more suited to Liga forward rolls with three twists and ten for artistic impression. But we've got no-one better.

Ronaldo certainly is a talent and while a part of me wants to see him develop into the player I think most of us are waiting for, hearing that he may want to go to Spain raises my doubts about his long term future at United. One of the things I noticed last season was that I wasn't watching a true team, there wasn't that same sense of cohesion we had with our core team from 99. I don't want to have players on our roster who don't want to be here because if they're not happy tjhen they're not going to play to their potential. I sometimes wonder whether last season's lack of inspiration will frustrate players like Rooney who have that passion to play and give it their all....we all know Keano wasn't happy last season...

I'm not getting myself worked up about this.
Manchester United will always sell papers. The wannabe Presidents have all been quoted as saying they have tied up deals. One saying Fabregas has, another saying Adriano, another saying Robben, another Kaka and now one has said Ronaldo.
Which will sell more papers?... It's just a campaign for more votes, the media know this but will still broadcast the story involving the United player because it sells.

I don't know of this is true - I'm sure the Spanish press can be just as bad as the English lot - and I don't want those things it's claimed he said to be true, but if it is and he really did say those things, then let him go and good riddance to him. He could be the best player in the world, but if that's his attitude then he doesn't deserve to wear a United shirt, he can sod off to the money hungry Spaniards, because if it is true - and I stress the "if" - then I for one don't want him at OT next season.
