well as great as the world cup was... its left a huge gap to fill on our squad on the right flank. fans cant take what happens on a international level so seriously. i wish rooney and ronaldo would come clean so we can get this straightened out. ronaldo has made it clear before he wants to play in spain at some point in his career hopefully it wont be till 2010

He wont, its a mixture of pre match emotions, he had just been knocked out of the WC and booed so his emotcions were shot to shit, the press shit stirring (as per usual) and off the cuff comments.
Fergie will smoothe it out

O'Neill had some things to say on the matter, and i for one agree:
Sir Alex Ferguson is the best man to sort out any row between Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo - according to former Celtic boss Martin O'Neill.
Speculation is mounting that the Portuguese international could be ready to leave Old Trafford amid the furore over his role in Rooney's World Cup dismissal. But, when asked about the issue on BBC Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek programme, O'Neill said: "Do I think the two of them can work together? Absolutely.
"But listen, why are you asking me this question? One of the greatest managers of all time should sort that problem out, and I don't think he's had too much difficulty in the past."
He added: "If all the things we have read about the incident are even remotely close to the truth, then a little apology from one player to the other to begin with....
"My own view is that if both players are worthwhile keeping in your team, that they are going to make a difference throughout the season to your side, then why not?
"If one of the players wasn't all that fantastic, then I think your job is made slightly easier. You can tell him to go. But I actually think both can work together.
"What do you do on the first day of training? I think you would have to lighten the mood, to be perfectly honest.
"There will be a few weeks now after the World Cup is over before Manchester United meet up, and I think there might be a time of reflection for both of them, and I honestly think they should put it to the side.
A lot of people on here need to stop being so pessimistic.

It's a shame to see him go as he's a great player, possibly one of the best in the world, but I think the excuse of no-one supporting him is just that, an excuse. He's never hidden the fact he'd like to eventually play in Spain and now he's got the excuse to leave. Hope wherever he goes we draw in the Champs league and Gary Neville gives him a nice welcome back to OT.

Im refusing to quote on this until I see some concrete evidence, too many people on here saying good riddance yet they could be cheering him on next season. Well said rewdie. I don't think he'll go either. He will cost too much, his contract still has 4 years to run and we dont want to sell him. He'll come back for pre season, Fergie will give him a sound listening to, Rooney and Ronie will kiss and make up ( well Ronaldo will do the kissing, and may even wear the make up.....) and things will return to normal. a few hefty challenges in trainning and its all back to Gary's house for tea and choccy digestives and a reinvigerateted domestic title challenge.

Ronaldo he say....... " I have already said my desire is to play in Spain and hope this can be acheived." He said. "they ( Real and Barca )are clubs I would like to represent. We will have to wait and see. I think the next two or three days things will be determined. I'm calm and my agent is taking care of the situation." Taken from The Times

Taken from The Times The times have misquoted it, they had the journalist on Sky sports news who interviewed him. He was saying he wanted more support from United, he will go back and see what people say, he is happy to stay if it gets sorted out.

Choc digestives i wouldnt say no, lets all go NOTHING will happen until he is back and has spoken it over with Fergie, Fergie has a knack with youngsters, DONT listen to the press, its a silly thing to do, it will hinder you in life that will, their getting what they want, the story spreading like wildefire and papers sold, English press are notorious for twisitng words, choosing which parts of what he said to put in the paper, for all you know he could have said "I would like to represent either clubs, i will decide my future in the next few days..." "I have had encouraging texts from Rooney, weve talked and theres no problem, we are professionals and both understand what happnened in the World Cup, i have a job at United, the staff have stuck by me until now and i have their faith and the supporters faith to repay, i may one day leave United but for now, i believe my place is here' Ya never know lol

I'm absolutely pissed off and not with Ronaldo. With England, I'm no longer an England fan, I no longer follow any international team. After the bullshit Manchester United have had to deal with from England, their fans and their media is a joke. First, they give Becks hell, second, blame Phillip Neville and give him hell, the Rio Ferdinand 8 month ban, as well as constantly making up bullshit about Manchester United and now they've gone and forced one of United's best talents, best players and it's the last straw. I'm just United, no international teams for me. I really hope Ronaldo said those things in frustration, in anger and Fergie can persuade him to stay and use Beckham as an example (he won the Treble the same year he got hell). If Ronaldo does indeed leave then all I can say is Good Luck to the boy and I hope he has a successful, bright career. AMEN TO THAT! From what I read on Sky Sports and BBC SPorts I feel that the press are out to get United all the time. They bitch at every little mistake that one of our players make and then blow it out of proportion and they call for heads to roll....The best football team in England and this is how the press treats us?? Have some dignity and respect for God's sake! Why arent the press all over Mourinho for not winning shit other that the Premier league? He has spent an unheard of 300 mill to prepare his sqaud of stars and this is all he has to show?? 2 premiership titles! Im so tired of the press! We need to back our players in tough times (such as this) and guide them to more great seasons!

I think Ronny will come round. Fergie will talk him down from the edge. He'll be a red for another two or three seasons as long as we progress in the CL I hope so anyway.
