Its stating the obvious i agree the the present squad is poor should of been repaired during pre season but it wasnt so when we play like the last 2 games its because of this, some of Utd players are not good enough and Utd needed a real shake up after last season didnt happen so again with the present players and what they are capable of we are not doing too bad....

United should have won this game, dominated from 0-90 apart from a spell at the end of the first half.
It was never a penalty, his hand was by his side and it was clearly ball to hand.
Saying that we should have won, I was pleased with the performance the result is nothing to shout about though.
All four of last year's top four have lost a game now and imo United have looked the best yet find ourselves two points off the pace. Only six games gone so nothing to worry about, I still think we can win the league and if we maintain our performances like today's first half and in the first three Premier League fixtures we will win the league. No doubts about that!
Those saying Rio & Neville don't like Ronaldo need to grow up. I think if you've read extracts from Rio's book and what Neville had to say post-WC it's clearly not the case.

I can't argue with the penalty Nev moved into the ball and it struck is hand while he was moving so for me it was a fair penalty or maybe thats just me but i was very proud of my countrymen today one of them even captained for about 6 mins ;D

Pretty abject display today, we kept possession but did nothing with it, we kept trying to thread balls through the middle and it didn't work, we should have used the width a lot more. There was no real pace to our play and we seemed to take 3 and 4 touches when usually we'd take 1 or 2, we suffered with not having a front man and ended up having a lot of speculative shots which wouldn't be too bad if we hit the target but today we pasted the fans behind the goal instead of the keeper who had a relatively easy game.
It says a bit for our squad that when we needed to chase the game and change things we were forced to put on an injured player, O'shea and Ole (who's a good sub but no spring chicken).
I'm really disappointed with the display today as I thought after suffering defeat at the hands of Arsenal last week and seeing the results from earlier in the day they would have gone out there and produced but they didn't. After all the crap the majority of our squad seemed to come out with this week in the media they didn't go out there and back up their words with actions so maybe this week they'll spend more time training instead of talking and halt this trend of steady decline.

And to Iain8Wallace (by the way, is "8" your age? It seems like it), did i lie in my comment? Wasn't it the truth that we played poorly? Ok you've both had your say now, so lets not let it go any further, we're all disappointed and emotions were running high, sometimes you'll get childish comments, but most of the time it's better to just ignore it.

We didnt play our best today, but we should have won, i hope we get no more major injuries like giggs, and SAF will hopefully pick a great team and stick with it, and then we can look to challenge chelsea , and do well in europe

Thought they could of done better than a draw Didn't we all What a difference a week makes, this time last week we were still sat atop the table with a 3 point lead on Chelsea hoping to beat a struggling arsenal team tomorrow, now after 1pt from 6 we're 2 points behind the chavs and 3rd in the prem, not the best week ever.

Oh well, we always have had and always will have days like today. Not convinced it was a penalty, but really, we should have finished off this team anyway. Rooney is looking better, but still not at his best. Richardson was poor today, and had a couple of chances he should have put away or at least got on target.
But Heinze and Vidic looked good (although how Gabby didnt get a booking all game I dont know!!) and so bit by bit we're getting our team back. Got to take all 3 points from Newcastle though.

I was (un)fortunate enough to watch the game in a pub full of Reading supporters and some gloating scousers The game clearly illustrated our need for a another striker; we had loads of possession in their half, but lacked the cutting edge in front of goal. There was a definite improvement when Saha came on. Carrick still looks a little nervy, but it's early days I suppose. I think we should play a Villa formation with 3 guys up front - Rooney, Ronaldo, and Saha/Smith. The worrying thing is that Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool look stronger. Looks like a battle for 4th place with Villa and Pompey!
