We weren't playing very well, and we're like every other team, sometimes we try to get an easy way out. No one will be complaining about a little dive by Ronaldo if it comes down to those three points winning us the league It's all well and good wanting to be proper and always play by the rules, but the thing is, we've had players who've done dirty tackles, who have dived etc and it's won us matches, that's football. And what Ronaldo did yesterday really wasn't even that major, he was just doing what any player would have done in the box, he went down, and didn't argue with the ref when he thought it was a penalty. And the ref is only human, whenever you make a mistake, wouldn't you try and put it right? He shouldn't do it of course, and he should be consistant, but it's human to fail as they say. My issue has been the inconsistency of people's views on diving as it's usually based on the result for the team they support. I love the sport and feel that if there are rules on the matter then they should be followed as it is the back bone of acceptable behavior on the pitch as it relates to game play. Now while I feel that cheating in any form is unacceptable, if people are willing to accept it then do so without complaining about other players doing it against us. Though perhaps I'm missing the point and complaining is a "part of the game"?

I'm not condoning diving, not by any means, I think that as any other way of cheating is disgusting. I'm just saying that goal turned the match for us, without it, it looked like another one of those days where it was all going to go against us. Also I'm just questioning if people would have thought that if that had been Rooney, Larsson, Saha or whomever in the box taking an easy fall if everyone would have been as quick to point out that it was a dive.
I also think it was harsh of you to indicate that one easy fall was enough to prove that Ronaldo hasn't cleaned up his act, or was on his way to as you put it.

Didn't mean to imply that you were condoning it, and I do agree that it did turn the tide. My issue is whether using dodgy tactics is a good way to rally players to get them to play great football like we did the second half. Ronnie's certainly cleaned up his act this season but he fell easily in the box this time around. I'm not implying he's going back to his always every single match but he did so in this case.

If that penalty wasn't scored, then Spurs went up the other end and got a penalty from the blatant Berbatov dive, then barely anything would have been made about it. Then we might be gutted that Ronnie didn't go down a little easier when he had the opportunity.
Extremely hypocritical everyone criticising Ronnie, still the hate from the world cup. I mean, how ironic was it when the Spurs fans started boo-ing Rooney AND Ronaldo.
If something's going to be done about diving, it needs to be done at the start of a new season, not victimising one guy whenever it gets done because of something he wasn't at fault for ages ago. Maybe if Ronnie didn't give them any excuses...

The debate on what to do about diving will be on going until either the players clean up their acts and play the game as it should be or there will be little choice but to introduce video technology. I heard a United supporter on the 606 say that players need to play honestly because that is indeed the best solution, and that applies to every player. You hit it on the head Suffix by saying that if Ronnie didn't give them any excuses then they could criticize other things but not his integrity.

Top quality performance from all the team, I wa worried about today, spurs came out to prove a point after the defeat to arsenal but we were strong and classy I'd brought my non-footie friend out to the pub and she hardly recognized me with all the shouting. I could have done without the heart attack for the first half, but what a BRILLIANT finish. Agreed, Tom.. classy was key here.. and the boys just had a fantastic time at it too, innit Aw, my missus, the football hooligan
