What a performance! Fantastically mature performance from our Reds! Over the past few weeks I've become highly suspicious of early leads as United can only seem to give them away...
Yet we gave the type of performance that crowns teams Champions of Europe. Full of grit, determination, pace, and pure technical skill we thoroughly deserved the result (possibly even more??).
Our first-half performance, in my opinion, deserved much more than we got, but we were punished by two moments of "Kaka" shall we call it? So at half-time I was just thinking if there was ever a time to prove our true colors now, on a big European night, was the time to show them. Against Pompey we were unable to rally the troops, against 'Boro we were unable to rally the troops, but here against the Italian giants, Milan we did rally in a most fantastic fashion.
Among all nights this is one where when does not only say that he is a Red, but shouts at the top of his lungs, and beats up on his chest that he is a Red.
Despite a few shaky moments the overall performance was great to watch. The speed of Ronaldo, Rooney, and Ryan, thought not always at its best, came to when it mattered! Fletcher further imposed himself on the large stage by closing down anything that was in sight, and making up for Carrick's unusually inconsistent performance (in my opinion). Scholes started out a little bit away from the heat of things in order to avoid that yellow card (while on the subject of cards...The ref was shite...just thought i'd take a moment to share that), but when it was obvious we needed him to dictate the tempo he slowly started drifting in, and doing what Scholsy's do best: running the game.
Still I'm not sure of a spot in the Final's, but more than anything the lads did us proud! Heavily burdened by the fixture list, and an ever lengthening injury "hit" list we've done extremely well to overturn one of the most solid teams in Europe, and once again come away fighting... ;D ;D
