Very happy with Edwin's strong return after his injury and dodgy matches that followed last season. He did INCREDIBLY well saving three penalties in a row, as did our boys scoring three goals in a row against arguably the best, or at leat one of the best, keeper in the world.
We have a much better squad than Chelsea on paper, and we did well today. BUT we were still making silly mistakes that shouldn't be made. Silvestre was disappointing. I really hope to see Eagles and some of the others being given the chance this season, we need some youth out there, and we need to put faith into the players who've proved they deserve it out on loan and in preseason.
First trophy of the season, hopefully the curse of the Charity (excuse me, "Community") Shield won't hit us and this will only be the beginning.
Real season starts next weekend, can't fucking wait.

I'd be utterly ashamed to be a Chelsea fan.
1. Their players went to ground if one of our lads even went near them
2. Their fans left before and during the penalty shoot out
3. Despite the 100s of millions of pounds, they don't have one player who can score a penalty against us?
Excellent first save from VDS. After all the stick he was given last season, I'm really pleased it was him who won us the "cup". Spot on ;D

Good day for VDS - and people said he wasn't a shot stopper. Pens clearly his specialist subject. And, OK I'll admit I did laugh (yeah, yeah, it's juvenile) at Frank missing again.
Rest of it, Roo and Ron look up for it - as they have since the match in Japan. Defence looked competent today - not impenetrable but OK.
I can't make my mind about Evra - I alternate between thinking Evra as a winger or wing-back - great idea and thinking aaaarrrrrggggghhhhh. Seems mean to complain given the goal - but not much actually came of that combination until Ronaldo became the third guy on the left. Still think I'd sooner see Giggs out there (yes, I am that old) with Evra as overlap.
Still not convinced about Giggs as Rooney's partner - but now Tevez is an option I guess we won't see much more of it. Beautiful goal by Giggs and a couple of through balls that were so close to perfect that you wanted to see more - but it looked more like great play from someone in the "coming through from midfield" role than a genuine forward. But as I said before - it seems mean to complain in the circumstances.
And I won 5 Euros on the shootout - go me!

All my Mum did was complain about Chelsea's injuries. Of course, we only had shit players like Tevez, Hargreaves, Saha, Anderson, Scholes, Heinze and Nani not starting.
