Manchester United V Chelsea 5th August 2007 - Community Shield Kick-Off: 15:00 Basically the curtain raiser for next season, and there can't be a better way to scare the lights out of Chelsea then to get first blood over em at Wembley. Feel free to add anything else on the Community Sheild here. Discuss!

Since we won the premier league in 93.. this has been our record... 93-94 : beat arsenal , then won the league 94 - 95 : beat blackburn, then lost the league 96-97 : beat newcastle , then won the league 97-98 : beat arsenal then lost the league 98-99 : lost to arsenal, won everything 99-2000 : lost to arsenal, won the league 00-01 : lost to chelsea, won the league 01-02 : lost to liverpool , lost the league 02-03 : wasn't us 03-04 : beat arsenal, lost the league 04 - 05 : lost to arsenal, lost the league 05 - 06 : wasn't us 06 - 07 : wasn't us 2007 - 2008 : if we lose this, but win the league i'd be more than happy , because only twice have we won the shield and gone on to win the title...

This may be a " non-competitive match" but I always want us to win any given match, and we should hopefully. I'm hoping we catch a glimpse of Anderson and Nani also.

I've got my tickets, ;D
My first trip to the New Wembley as I missed out on the FA Cup Final, #Wa#
Hopefully we win and get a good showing from the lads, although it's only the Charity/Community Shield or what have you it'd be a nice little confidence booster ahead of the new season.

i think ferguson over the years just havent cared about community shield, but i mean he takes is as a friendly , but i think this will be like any other match against a team like watford, he will say to his players to go out there and give the fans something to joy about, now he has a team experienced enough from last season that if it is one of these kind of matches they can surely perform on their own without any expectations from the boss, hopefully this will be a far more open game and by open i mean an open chelski goal and we winning 5-0

I imagine alot of the new signings to play, it will be fun to see Nani, Anderson and Hargreaves rip open the Chelsea Defense. I cant wait.

Might only be the Community Shield but its a trophy and its against Chelski so we need to go out and win it and win it well too !!!! It will set the ball rolling for the season nicely to mstick one on Moaninho and his bunch of whiners. Might give them a dodgy start to the season. Add this to the fact Drogba is off to Africa for a nice little tournament and Chelski got problems coming at them already

I have applied for tickets for this match although im not that bothered. It's manily to see Wembley if I have to be honest as the community shield is just another way for clubs to get richer. It would be good to see the new boys but ill be seeing them at O.T this season anyway. They should scrap it and have a north vs south game with the best players according to the opta stats playing. That would be great and it would create more interest.
