Predicted that perfectly
I said a tight 2-0 win goals from Ronaldo and Rooney with a late goal

Well thank god that's over and there'll be no replays.
We looked tired still, so did villa, it's been a long Christmas for the boys and it's been showing. Rooney was a breath of fresh air today, our defence were solid for most parts, Carrick did well intercepting but had some dodgy passes, still better than a lot of his matches the last few months. We had a couple of chances that should have been goals, Giggs and Carrick should each have had one... however, important thing is that we got the win and will go on to the next draw.

Poor game, with both teams not really at the races. Rooney had the desired effect, getting our forward players moving and getting the 2nd. Ronaldo is two players in one: more often than not he's the creative and explosive midfielder, and sometimes when he's quiet like today he's the striker who does fuck all and then pop's up to score.
Roll on to the next round and hopefully a easy home tie.

Bad match overall, Villa defending (quite successfully), horrible refereeing, Saha and Carrick were really bad... again!
Maybe if Tevez/Rooney is injured Fergie should partner the other one with Ronaldo and play Giggs and Nani on the wings
This is just the latest match that shows how important Rooney is and how poor Saha can be

Good result, average performance. Anderson really needs to work on that shooting lol, fookin terrible efforts from the lad today ;D Rooney changed it for us and gave us some fresh legs as most looked half arsed today but at least we're through and without having to put a whole lot into it. Sums it up for me. The first half left me wondering whether we'd be able to get anything going but fortunately the goals from Ronaldo and Rooney got us through. I don't know what's going on but we've look somewhat flat out there. Job done though and on to the next round.

Rooney to come off the bench and spare our blushes as Ruud did in 2002?. ;]. Come on boys Good guess! Just like Portsmouth last year Rooney was fuckiing immense, as were the fans, absolutely terrific! Ronaldo only began to play once Rooney came on for some reason, Giggs also, who along with Saha were shite! Not the most entertaining match, but enough to get us through! Oh, and Redom, I personally wish we had put a whole lot into it, no-one looked arsed and the one player who tried throughout his appearance was Rooney who changed the game for us! Oh, and Villa were shite!

I would like to have seen more form us too but if you're looking for positives from the game at least it shouldn't have taken much out of the players as it wasn't a physically tough or demanding game, it's to be expected Rooney put it in because a) that's the way he always plays and b) he's had a rest over a hectic holiday period unlike most of the others out there so it's no surprise they looked a bit leg weary.

Below par performance from the lads, but that's not surprising considering how busy we've been as of late. We got the result and thank god we don't have to have a replay. Rooney was exactly what he hoped, and we can now roll on the next round. Hope Fergie was pleased with the away support, it was mint! I was singing along the whole time. #dj#

A strange game that wasn't helped by our tactical line up at all. A few bizarre decisions really in selection I thought the giggs and saha partnership was totally wrong and to be honest I think saha's days are numbered with that kind of performance today. You don't have to be an expert to figure out the substitutions changed things giggs went wide left and ronaldo wide right when rooney came on and we played good football for the last 10 with a 433 really. Aston villa were playing like they were away, no ambition or will to have a go and our defense again was the star today, absolutely rock solid, vidic and rio were excellent particularly vidic.
