Well thank heavens for that. Surprising what one players’ presence can do to a game. Doesn't surprise me with the quality of the player. We just look so much better with Rooney in the side. Would have liked to see Ronaldo getting a well deserved rest but he played well. Carrick was better, but still not brilliant and that goes for Saha too. Oh well. We are through anyway so now for the draw on Monday.

Pretty nice pass by Giggs to set up Ronaldo, glad that game is out of the way.

Tbh I was disappointed with the game today. Naturally I'm glad we won but I was expecting a replay until Rooney came on. I wasn't impressed with the line-up, particularly up front and, unsurprisingly, the players were clearly tired. Ronaldo didn't really start playing until Rooney was on and I don't think Carrick played well either. As for Saha - very poor performance. Still I guess the important thing is the win. Fingers crossed for the 4th round draw.

The match was begging for someone to make a mistake before Wazza came on.
Good result though.

I enjoyed the game because of the fans, simple as.
The football weren't as good as it has been this season but it was a team performance and we deserved the win having worn them down and then throwing Rooney at them they couldn't cope.
We dealt with everything they had to throw at us and Van Der Sar's presence at corners and free kicks helped us deal with them that little bit better. With the pace we have at the back; Evra, Rio and Wes, their pace which is their best weapon was thwarted at all times.
Ronaldo's nineteenth of the season, amazing record and Rooney deserved his goal because he was superb when he come on.
Glad to be in the next round, I want to win all three trophies we're battling for and now a nice home tie would be good.

Thank god we have Rooney coming back fresh after the tired legs from some others in that performance.
Carrick had another shocker, Fergie can't be happy with him or a lot of the others, however, i think having Rooney back will get a spark from the others.

I thought he was a lot better than in previous games, and was pretty good today.

Villa must bloody hate us ;D Rooney, what a superstar. I was desperate for Fergie to bring Rooney on, but clearly he timed it to perfection. Just enough time to make the perfect impact. Fuckin ell that lad is just great isn't he? Reminded me of Pompey in the Cup last season ;D
I thought Carrick was lots better today, still not great, but better. What the fuck were the commentators chatting though, saying the Carrick was above Hargreaves in pecking order. And "I can't remember the last time Rooney started". Er, how about Boxing Day you wanker, a week ago. Park is great to have back. Giggsy really worked today. At 1-0 and coming to the close of the game he ran all the way from the other end of the box to chase the ball back, and made a great tackle. Haven't seen him doing stuff like that for a while.
Not a great performance, but we were playing tougher opposition away and did the job.
The fans were fucking awesome. Credit to them. Sang ALL match. Hilarious when "You couldn't sell all your tickets" bellowed out.

The lad that run on to the pitch, bless him. He beat some of the stewards and just a few yards from celebrating with the players...he slipped!

Critics of Rooney who go on and on about how he isn't scoring goals should take note on how he can change a game because his contributions to the team come in many forms not just scoring.

was a dreadful game that much is sure, sparked to life by rooney's entrance, the lad is a maestro i thought carrick too had a good game, protected his back four well made some good tackles and kept it simple, however he lacked that killer pass in the final third though
anderson was a beast again, his rampaging runs were brilliant, he's so coolwhen under pressure, and looked dangerous
all in all just glad to be in the fourth round

Not a great game , and I am glad we are through.
Rooney's impact was expected ,a peach of a player. He add so much to our game. Carrick was better not great but still improved a bit. Saha again was disappointing , Luis shape up or ship out.
Good result.
