Riquelme is at his peak in the Spanish league, he failed in Italy, failed at Barca where yes he was played out of position but also let go as they didn't think he's good enough, he disappeared against Arsenal and there have been many people having watched him claiming he wouldn't fit in in the Premier league. Forlan another player who didn't fit in in the premiership, does well in Spain.
It's a gamble, not to say i wouldn't welcome him if he came but i would heavily criticize if he didn't fit in due to his past records. You say he has 3 years left in him, so does Scholes and why not buy someone younger to be Scholesy's understudy?
Nolan is proven in the premiership, similar to Scholes and has captained his own team in the league, he might not even cost us 8 million and has his best years ahead of him.

Riqueleme is two years younger then Scholes
Who says he failed in Spain? He was first choice every game until the buck toothed Brazilian arrived.
Went missing against Arsenal? Not as I seen it, and remember in nearly every position Arsenal were a better team than Villareal and Riq held his own.
He's the Argies main weapon everything they do goes through him, he ran the show against England.
Nolan has done nothing to suggest he's got the quality to play for us and in Champions League he's got beef for the Premiership but technically he could not lace the Argies boots
Please note this is only my opinion and Im not preaching here

I'd like to see both of them join (highly unlikely I know). Nolan is young enough to still develop the needed skills and experience, with players like Riquelme and Scholes around he would be in good hands.
Though having either of them would be a good move, although Scholes migh have a few years left, Fergie is likely to want a minimum of 2 players to cover each area.

Nolan would not help our Champions League campaign

sign d`allesandro, proven in the prem.got injured and lost his place in the argentine starting 11 to riquelme about 2 years ago.so he has the quality. he is only 24.exactly the right age for a young progressing team.it could take riquelme six months/season to settle and we will have no resale profit as he is 28. available for £4 million.thats what wolfsburg have asked from pompey. would jump at the chance to strutt his stuff at ot.

Hi i'm a new member ex 606, and a guy on there has said he has a very reliable source and that Riquelme and Cambiasso are "done deals" (Ruud part of the Cambiasso (Inter Milan) deal). Riquelme deal was sorted with help from Heinze and when he was over here for the CL semi ?? anyone else heard this, and what do you think "IF" it was genuine ??

I'd fuckin' hate it. I'd be happy with Riquelmé but not with Cambiasso and definitely not happy with Ruud departing OT, especially for Inter!

Id be happy to see Riqueleme, He is one of the best creative midfielders in the World at present.
As for Cambiasso Id welcome him with open arms too, due to what we have at present to play in that position.
RUUD VAN NISTLEROY will not be goin anywhere till at least we find a replacement of such calibre.
KLAUS JAAN HUNTELAAR anyone ?

I want Ruud to stay don't get me wrong but Hunterlaar would be the ideal replacement and more. Really unsure whether Torres could handle it here or not. He is a big name but his records aren't as big as his name.

Heard all the hype with Torres and he scored well in La Liga this season so Ive put him in my dream team for the World Cup along with Toni from Italy whom has had a similar season in Serie A

Scored 13 for Athletico this season, i guess you could question whether he would score more in a better team (United) but Huntelaar has scored for big and small teams alike. For the kind of money i've heard is wanted for him would he get us 20 goals a season?

Riquelme non!
I' ve seen like 6 other players listed in this thread who I'd rather have! This guy has Kevin Phillips syndrome, mark my words. He's 28, and in his 10 years (roughly) as a professional footballer he's had one good season, now if he was 20 and had one good season everyone would be saying "oh no I dunno he's only had one good season"
He didn't make it at Barca, he was shipped off to a team that signed Diego Forlan for gods sake and brought them to the champions league, it was through sheer defensive grit and good fortune in the draw that Villareal made it as far as they did, Riquelme is over-rated to the hilt, he's the current flavour of the month and we never buy those.

Sounds intresting but until they are sitting in a conference room at united with the signed contract im personally not going to get too caught up in things.

I did think this at first but then realised how about watching him in the world cup first with the big players on the big stage against different styles of football... probably what United are also doing.
