Get you - TEAMS GET SUSSED OUT PLAYING ONE DIMENSIONAL FOOTBALL = FACT. GREAT teams have a plan A and plan B we played 4-3-3 with a horrendus midfield. The reasons for playing 4-3-3 is for overall posession ALL OVER the pitch, keeping the ball in ALL areas and breaking teams down, if you have players with the technical ability to do so this also has been suggested by many greats as the way football should be played. We never achieved success because we never had the neccessay midfield to do so So silly to suggest a formation that achieves SUCCESS = FACT? More like a very silly suggestion to question a FACT on your behalf wouldn't you say #Wa#

Erm, we tried 4-3-3 with keano and Scholesy still here, Rooney and Ronaldo also, it failed, Keano walked out of the club, i think you'll find most of the team would be extremely unsettled should we try this again as we've already lost our biggest player, and the second biggest looks like he's on his way out.

The formation could of course work with different personel, and work well with our attack force should we have the right people behind it. BUT SAF would have to be extremely careful when to use it after the start of this season..it would have a big mental impact on the squad after how it went last time. There were rumours that SAF wasn't overly involved last time it was tried, maybe if we sort our central mid out and he gets more involved it could work, but not atm.. there are too many changes especially if Ruud leaves to start playing with formations.

When you play 4-3-3 you have to have energetic players all over the pitch that are willing to run. The last time we tried it we had RVN - who is getting at getting goals but in a 4-3-3 you need much more from the front man, look at Eto'o and Drogba, they are much more involved in the build up play than RVN ever was.
We also need an energetic midfield and last season we were using Keane and Scholes - who lets face it had lost their legs and were only really good at distributing the ball.
So I think that with 2 new midfielders and a new front man, like Saha, Rossi or Torres, 4-3-3 would work well for us.b
