Berger Battles to victoryNorway's Tora Berger overcame blustery conditions and a fierce challenge from the German hosts to claim victory at the Oberhof sprint. Russia's Svetlana Sleptsova also upset the hopes of the home fans at the German resort, claiming second-place at 5.5 seconds behind Berger's winning time of 23 minutes and 58.2 seconds. Home favourite Magdalena Neuner was relegated to third place after three missed shots on her final shoot for a total of four misses on the day, coming in 10.7 seconds behind the winning pace. Ukraine's Vita Semerenko, who joined Berger in hitting all ten targets at both ranges despite snowy sky and poor visibility, was fourth in front of former Olympic and world champion Kati Wilhelm. The victory was only the second of Berger's career, as the 26-year-old Norwegian added to her maiden World Cup triumph at the Kontiolahti pursuit earlier this season. Sikora pips Bjoerndalen to VictoryPoland's Tomasz Sikora beat out overall World Cup leader Ole Einar Bjoerndalen to claim victory in the Oberhof sprint. The 34-year-old Sikora, the reigning Olympic mass start silver medallist and 1995 individual pursuit champion, earned only the third World Cup victory of his career in wretched conditions at the German resort. With spectators struggling to see through dark skies and heavy snow, Sikora still managed one of Saturday's few perfect shoots hitting all ten targets at both ranges to claim victory in 28 minutes and 13.3 seconds. Bjoerndalen, who has won two races already this season, finished just 16.2 seconds behind Sikora despite missing two shots on his opening range and a third on the prone. With two missed shots Bjoerndalen's Norwegian compatriot Emil Svendsen finished third at 16.7 seconds off pace, relegating German home favourite Micky Greis to fourth at 23.1 seconds behind the winning time. Mattias Nilsson Jr. of Sweden was fifth in front of Russian Dmitri Yaroshenko. Eurosport
Good results for us today Bjoerndalen has done very well, pulled us to victory yesterday too.

Ahonen makes history on 56th Four-Hills-Tournament
The 56th Jack Wolfskin Four-Hills-Tournament was a great success despite the weather adversities. With his triumph on the dramatic final round in the last competition in Bischofshofen (AUT) and the entire Tournament, the Flying Finn, Janne Ahonen, became the first athlete ever to win five overall Tournament titles. He also won the event in 1999, 2003, and 2005, as well as in 2006 when he shared victory with Jakub Janda of the Czech Republic.
The organizers can also be satisfied: ”There were new TV records in Finland, Norway and Austria. The New Year’s competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, for example, grabbed a market share of over 75% in Norway. In Austria, the market share was over 50% on average and 57% in peak times. In Germany, 1.5 million people more than the year before (6.24 million as opposed to 4.8 million) watched the Tournament with great interest,” commented Tournament President Claus-Peter Horle.
This year’s Tournament was the first time in history that the traditional event was held on three hills only. Due to strong winds, the infamous “Foehn”, the Bergisel competition had to be cancelled on Friday and rescheduled in Bischofshofen on Saturday. Even so, four competitions were held as always. ”The relocation from Innsbruck to Bischofshofen was the only possibility. The weather forecast for the next several days gave us no hope for a weather improvement,” FIS Race Director Walter Hofer commented on the jury decision.
After the Four-Hills-Tournament, Thomas Morgenstern continues to hold a clear lead in the e.on Ruhrgas FIS World Cup Ski Jumping overall standings with 940 points, 286 points ahead of teammate Gregor Schlierenzauer (654 points), with Ahonen in 3rd (615 points). The World Cup will continue in Predazzo (ITA) next weekend after a five year break from the Italian site.Of course i wanted to see another Norwegian winning the 4 Hills rather than an Austrian but seeing Janne win the 4 Hills made me happy cos he deserved it!!!! finally someone will give Battle to Morgi He's won it 5 times He's won it 5 times that boy Janne he's won it 5 times
