Of course but it's also viable that the fights that are the best for the checks, are the ones he's given.
Or indeed it is simply a route to Pacquiao. Promoters want probably either Pacman/Marquez part III or the Pound for Pound title on the line between the best two fighters of their generation.
Just possibilities of course?
Sometimes it's not as straight forward as Mayweather ducking the fights.

to clear things up i know mayweather will probably not have 4 more fights, however i feel if he did with those i mentioned then all the haters can shut up especially if he wins.
coogie in regards to cotto i truly believe maywaether will toy with him for 12 rounds and if need be another 2 rounds. weight or no weight cotto will not keep up. i look at the judah fight, take away judahs mental fragility and the low blows and imo judah may have won, how some may ask, simple he had the formula with the uppercuts which was catching cotto what he didnt have was the brains mayweather has to keep drawing in cotto then catching him and moving, pretty boy will pot shot cotto all night long, may not look good but it'll get the points as cotto will not hit him enough. age or no age shane gives floyd the toughest fight, he has the speed not like he used to but he also has a chin, pacquioa although i believe will lose may be tricky as he has a great trainer.

Yeah man im not naive to think Cotto is the best thing in boxing, he is the most exciting also i have always maintained that no matter how much mayweather can cause indifference you will not hear me say one bad word about his ability or his status as a boxing great. For me though I would like to see him tackle more fighters at 147 rather than going for the smaller fighter. He beats Marquez and then moves onto Pac, thats two fighters who are naturally 130 - 135lbs, why not challenge the best at your weight. Obvious with Pacman its for the p4p title but why Marquez? Again why not go for Paul Williams? or SSM or Cotto, fuck move up a weight or two and go for Kelly Pavlik.

Who is you're favourite boxer (present)? - David Haye, Floyd Mayweather, Edwin Valero.
Who is you're favourite boxer (all time)? - Iron Mike Tyson, Ali, Arron Pryor I have got load's....
What fight was you're favourite of all time? - Hagler vs Hearn's or Benn vs McClellan, Derrick Jefferson vs Maurice Harris
What fight are you most excited about? PBF vs JMM/Pacman, Klitschko vs Haye.
As regard's to the Mayweather issue I truly feel he would make Cotto look very average although Cotto is an excellent fighter to watch! Yes I do think Mayweather could be deemed as selective by some I personally don't think so, I think he will have two fight's then done.

People are saying Mayweather is dodging fighters and he can't win whoever he fights.
Mayweather beats Del La Hoya and Hatton and it's because he's over the hill or he's too big for him, respectively.
Pacquiao beats both, despite weight or whatever and it's because he's great.
Then those same people will call for Mayweather to fight Pacquiao, Mayweather wins and it's because he's too big again?
Marquez is a man, many believe, beat Pacquiao not once but twice, yet people say he's dodging fighters.
Whatever happens some people will make criticisms of Mayweather's performances, I think he's a class above all fighters out there.
People tend to forget that Mayweather worked his way from 114lbs (or was it 125 lbs?) and it's a shame a lot of people try to pick defects in his legacy.

soory coogie not amiking out ur naive. i am with busby on this floyd worked his way through the wight classes to be pond for pound the others have to do the same. lets be honest tho he wont fight the punisher, the guy will throw too many punches and floyd is a thinker he wont get the time or space required, its a fight he wont sign to and i dont blame him, its the biggest risk out there for him.
floyd softened oscar then again he is not a great fighter/boxer imo.

dont worry bout it dude, not saying you said that, was just saying im not naive to think that Cotto could outclass PBF. im in agreement that PBF would be too smart over the 12 but all it would need would be for one body shot, one clean shot, some way to combat mayweathers shoulder roll and we have a totally different fight. The key to defeating mayweather is to get past that shoulder roll technique he has, obviously its harder than imagined if no one has found a way to get past it yet. I think the one person that could combnat that would be Manny with his speed.

One word... Gutted! Man was well looking forward to this fight! Someone made a good point on a boxing site i go to, if this gets rescheduled for an Autumn fight, Haye will have only fought once in nearly two years, that cannot be good for a fighter.
Wlad vs Valuev will happen in its place

disappointed haye pulled out. ... looks like chagaev will step in he's decent enough. think he only has one defeat in 26/27 fights, he hasnt really fought many top fighters,
Chagaev to replace hurt Haye
Two days after former cruiserweight champion David Haye pulled out of a June 20 fight against unified heavyweight titlist Wladimir Klitschko because of a bad back, Klitschko replaced him with Ruslan Chagaev on Friday, Klitschko manager Bernd Boente told ESPN.com.
Boente said he made a verbal deal with Chagaev promoter Peter Kohl of Universum, the German company that promoted Klitschko for several years before a falling out.
"We will now exchange the contracts, but we have verbally agreed with each other on the Chagaev fight. The fight is on," Boente said from Germany. "We are all absolutely thrilled because this is an even bigger name and he is unbeaten. Chagaev offers something. It shows Wladimir's class, too, that on short notice he accepts this strong guy and has to change his training to prepare for a different kind of fighter because Chagaev is a southpaw."
Haye had asked Klitschko to delay their fight until July 11, insisting that he would be OK to fight with a brief delay, but Klitschko (52-3, 46 KOs) declined.
Klitschko-Chagaev will still take place at Veltins Arena, a soccer stadium in Gelsenkirchen, Germany that was a 60,000-seat sellout for the Haye fight. However, the biggest difference in the new arrangement is that HBO, which was on board for the Haye fight and had televised Klitschko's last nine fights plus many others, declined the buy the Chagaev fight.
"We are passing on Chagaev for June 20," HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg told ESPN.com. "We are only interested in a rescheduled Haye fight for July 11."
It's been a wild week for the heavyweights.
Last Saturday, Chagaev (25-0-1, 17 KOs) was supposed to challenge titleholder Nikolai Valuev in a rematch in Helsinki, Finland. But the day before the fight, Chagaev's pre-fight blood test came back with a level of hepatitis B high enough that Finnish officials would not allow him to take part.
Despite Chagaev's suspect blood tests, Klitschko is willing to face him, Boente said. In Germany, the rules are different than in Finland and his hepatitis levels are acceptable.
"It's only an antigen he is testing positive for," Boente said. "He has had it for five years and the doctors told us the chances that Wladimir is infected by this guy are about as much as the sky falling on our heads."
Because Klitschko travels so often, Boente said he had already been inoculated against it and that he would also take a post-fight injection if his doctor recommends it.
"The doctor tells him it's absolutely no problem," Boente said.
Adam Booth, Haye's trainer and manager, said the injury would have been fine after a short rest.
"Unfortunately David has sustained a back injury, which means he is unable to continue training for a short period," Booth said. "We're heading back to the UK [from training camp in Cyprus] for some aggressive physiotherapy. It looks like there will be only a three-week delay from the original fight date with respect to David's readiness, which hopefully means that Wladimir will only postpone the fight, rather than cancel it."
Said Haye, "I hope that once I have had the sufficient treatment, I will be able to start training again and we can get the fight on as soon as possible. I know this is the fight the fans want and I will do everything to make sure it happens."
It won't, at least not on June 20, although it is possible that Klitschko could face him in the fall.
Valuev, whose only loss came against Chagaev in a title bout, was Klitschko's initial target after Haye pulled out, but Valuev was not interested, Boente said.
There were numerous inquiries from such fighters as Roy Jones, John Ruiz, Odlanier Solis, Kevin Johnson, Brian Minto, Chazz Witherspoon and others about stepping in for Haye. However, after Valuev declined, Klitschko turned to Chagaev, a former titleholder who lost his belt when he was demoted by one of the organizations to "champion in recess" because of injury and illness that caused him to cancel three title defenses.
Haye had asked the Klitschko camp to simply delay the fight until July 11, but Klitschko refused, Boente said.
Klitschko and his team had been considering the postponement, but when it still hadn't received a medical report on Haye's injury by Friday afternoon, they opted for Chagaev.
"We have only heard from them about this injury but not received the medical report," Boente said. "The main obstacle in Wladimir's mind was that we can never count 100 percent on Haye. The options were Chagaev on June 20 or delay the Haye fight to July 11. But the big obstacle was that we don't know that suddenly Haye doesn't cancel again because his back is still not 100 percent. Then with the summer vacations in Europe, we can't do a fight until the fall. We couldn't take that risk."
The Klitschko team was disappointed by HBO's decision to decline the fight.
"Nobody can understand it," Boente said. "HBO they told us they don't want Chagaev. I think that is not acceptable."
Greenburg stuck to his guns.
"It's not a fight we would be interested in," he said. "We want to save our money for later in the year if Wladimir is going to come back and fight again. We think that the Haye fight was going to be a good fight in the ring. I'm not expecting a lot out of Wladimir vs. Chagaev, so it was a pretty easy decision. If we had bought this now, we would not have had anything else left for Wladimir this year if anything else pops up, like a rescheduled David Haye fight, a Cris Arreola fight, anything that has some pop to it."
Boente said he would talk to Showtime and ESPN about acquiring American television rights.

Anybody see the Cotto fight at the weekend? Shows you how much of a beast he is winning the fight with that fucked up cut above the eye from the head clash! Although after seeing this fight I can say I think hes still reeling from the margarito defeat! But imo still the best welterweight out there!
And busby boy see your man has pulled out of the JMM fight, its now been put back to Sept 19 because of a rib injury.
There you have it, there will not be a Pacman/PBF fight this year. Bob arum is pushing for a Pac/Cotto fight November 14 MGM Grand Las Vegas. So whoever comes through that fight I think will fight PBF next may. By that time PBF will have been very inactive, one fight in 2 1/2 years, if he beats JMM, which is not a forgone conclusion.

Alot of talk within the boxing circles that the fight was put back because they have only sold 3,000 tickets so far, which brings us back to the arguement is mayweather a good draw!

I doubt that's true to be honest. A Mayweather fight would sell 3,000 tickets in the UK alone, if not more, there'd definitely be more buyers in the USA.
